I use a CapTel and so places that I call don't know that I am Deaf unless I mention it. I run into a problem when someone (person or business) calls me, then I have to ask them to wait just a few seconds (3-5) until the relay tem is ready, then to continue. Usually it's the bill collectors that aren't too polite about it. I had someone from the phone company ask me why I was so slow in responding to their questions. I mentioned that I was reading what the relay person sent and they said I needed to have a better life and to learn to enjoy myself more. That made no sense and I said that, they then said I didn't make sense with what I said and hung up. Needless to say, I now only do business with AT&T online.
