Hi there!
I'll be starting my classes as an interpreter 1/10 and wanted to find some ways to get in contact with Deaf in or near Tulsa area. I have some experience signing - was a volunteer tutor for deaf children grade school to high school up at the state school for the deaf in Olathe KS - have had deaf employees work for me at a couple different places.
I'm able to handle some conversational interchanges, but really want to spend as much time as I possibly can around Deaf so I can make myself into the best interpreter I can.
Any replies/posts with info on where I can go to get involved with Deaf clubs, social gatherings, etc. around Tulsa OK would be greatly appreciated! (I'm already heading for TSHA to sign up as a volunteer, looking for any other tips, ideas, events, etc that I can use to immerse myself in ASL).
Thanks for reading and I hope to meet new people soon!
