How long did you have to wait until you have a turn on day? I been hearing.. like 2 weeks or a month. I am confused. Please clear it up for me.. thanks! :)

It really depends on the center you get your CI from and the type of incision and healing time. It usually varys from about 2 weeks to a month. In certain cases, it has been done in less than 2 weeks but that is uncommon. The bottomline is that they want the incision to be healed before you start using the transmitter coil and BTE.

For me it was 2 1/2 weeks.

3 weeks for me. I've noticed that 4 weeks is the most common waiting time though. If you get impatient you could always try your luck and ask for it to be brought forward. I know people who have done this successfully.

I waited one week. I was told if I really wanted to they could activated it 1 day after surgery. Some people have actually done so, personally the area is still to ouchy for me. I believe she also said that some of those who were concidering it and waited a week instead were glad they waited. So it varies some, might have something to do with how full their appointment schedules are to.

This would be best answered by your doctor. It most likely will vary from one individual to another.

I had to wait 3 months but that's only because I was part of a clinical trial and they had to coordinate all the switch-on dates between all the participants in the trial.

mine was supposed to be 4 weeks after surgery but my activation date got pushed back longer.

it is usually three to four weeks depending on your doctor. they need to wait for the inflamation to go down. it apparently effects the magnet connection. most commonly its four, i am waiting three weeks
