Good Looking Cakes

wow that cakes does look so good and an amazing wow.. I am sure the chefs are really good at it lol :lol: ,, for me if I make like that cake then no thanks!!! lol I cant do it lol it is too much to work hahaha :lol:

Yeah. Last year, I was watching a random show on television (while channel surfing) and came across this show where they were competing to give this couple the best wedding ever.

They had people compete for different parts of the weddings such as food, wedding cake, decoration, etc. When I happened to arrive to that channel at that time, they were doing the wedding cake part. They had a time limit to create the best wedding cake ever. The work they did was... AMAZING!

A few of the cakes used a special kind of icing that didn't look "creamy" or "whipped"... just smooth like clay.

A few days later, I came across the cake of my dreams... the Super Mario Bros. wedding cake. *sighs*
 
Vampy, if that was not the Ace of Cakes food show you were watching, look it up, it is on tv regularly. I have watched that food show many times. These people make really cool, custom and expensive cakes.

Fondant, I believe. I've looked at those and I'm not so sure of how it's going to taste.. I mean, it DOES look like clay but dunno about the taste and texture and all that stuff.

Try a local professional cake place and see if you can sample a piece?
 
I like that Ace of Cakes show! I only started watching it by chance about 3 weeks ago. Amazing cakes. I also wonder how they would taste.

I've also seem a couple "food challenge" shows where a group of chefs have a bake-off. One was for fancy cakes and another was for cupcakes. Also quite amazing!

You know, I have a suspicion that a lot of their cakes are made and sold for their novelty, art, etc. and not necessarily tasty but I don't really know.

I have no knowledge of how much time making one of those cakes entails, but with the painstaking details, I'd imagine it'd taste stale by the time it's ready to be consumed.
 
Tousi and Saline Eyes are probably right about the taste of those cakes. I do not think I have ever tasted a cake with that kind of heavy fondant icing. It looks so stiff like rubber!

However I wouldn't be adverse to trying that kind of cake though, as I am interested to find out what it tastes like because everyone seems to want that kind of cake so it can't be all that bad, hey? Although as Saline Eyes said, it does takes a long time to make those kind of cakes and I would think the cake would be kinda stale a couple days after it was baked.

One episode of Ace had them leaving the cake unfinished overnight and they did not take it to where it was supposed to go until much later the next day so the cake was almost two days old by the time it was all done.
 
:jaw: I do decorate cakes a lot but those link, you provided... ??? I cannnnnoot decorate like this.... Really cool cake... It's suitable for addiction.... :giggle:

Damn him so good professional making cake than mine..
