Hello all, I recently stopped wearing hearing aids to see if I like being without them or not. I got new hearing aids few months ago and I'm not liking it. I wish they would go back to no bells and whistles but that's me.
Anyways, I would like to hear from others about their experiences of wearing hearing aids and then decided to stop wearing them for various reasons.
Downside for me is that I would need to learn to sign again if I continue to not wear them anymore. I unfortunally haven't been signing or reading them since High School or little after.
I am lucky tho. I asked my boss at work what he thinks if I stop weairng them cause I knew it would be hard at first since I will have to learn to totally lipread instead of hearing and lipreading at same time. He said it was my choice and however I want to do it, they'll work with me. I can see little frustration with my co workers but they haven't given me much problems regarding that. I am finding myself enjoying not having to wear hearing aids but there is few things that I'm noticing that makes it hard and would have to change those. For example, I ordred pizza today and I realized that I cannot hear the doorbell anymore. It's amazing how much we take hearing for granted.
Anyways I hope to hear from you all regarding your experiences and MOD, if there is a thread regarding this topic already, you are welcome to move this but I ddint' see it listed.
