Hi folks,

I have Azure Mini BTEs, which cost alot and function quite well however they are annoying in that they are prone to letting off random whistling sounds, (not feedback..).

eg: I got red dragon on now and when the intro plays with the orchestra etc its all whistling, and when eerie music plays, more..etc.

I told my audio about this and he did some tweaks but its still the same.

Is there anyone else with problems like this? from a premium aid im not too pleased, is there settings on the software my audio should use?

This whistling is only prominent during music it should be noted.

My loss is about 60dB flat across all frequencies, my right ear slightly worse.

Resound aids must be calibrated. When you first got them did he run the calibrator? To you the calibrator sounds like a bunch of pure tones. Are the aids whistling like when you hold your hand up to them or do you just hear a tone? Some feedback cancelation systems can give you false positives. The hearing aid picks up a pure tone (music, microwave timer, ect) and thinks it's feeding back, it then emits a tone back to cancel the feedback and you end up hearing the tone. Are your Earmolds vented?

I have Siemens Reflex DSPs and I have a problem with random whistling, with just my right hearing aid. It happens when there is a particularly loud noise near by, like my dog barking or someone shouting right next to me. It doesn't happen with my left HA at all, which is odd because my left ear is worse than the right and requires more amplification. Otherwise my right HA is OK. When I went to see my audi about it he just provided me with a new ear mould, saying it was normal to get some feedback with super power HAs. But I'm sure there's more going on than just normal feedback, I have soft full shell ear moulds which are a really tight fit.

I have just thin tubes and I use a tip from sebotek (the best thing about sebotek aids is their mushroom tips..!).

The mushroom tip, size 9 from sebotek provides a very firm closure so there is no feedback when I put my hand around the Azure.

I am not sure about calibration, my audio did this thing a few times when he put a loud uncomfortable sound thru the aids on both sides he said it was for feedback cancellation? I said can you do this without me wearing them and he said no, perhaps this was the calibration?

In any event this 'noise' im hearing is still prominent...?

*sigh
