I'm still a hearie. But, I seem to loose my hearing gradually everyday.
And, it's a bad time for this to happen because, I'm taking music lessons.

I always set volume on maximum on my device, this is because I can't hear the typical volume really well.
Mom thinks I'm weird. And comes up with a theory that: I play the piano too loud.

I do practice the piano for 1 hour plus or minus (usually less). I'm skeptical that it's the piano, because I always play soft or medium classical music.

There are some signs:
1. I can't hear much.
2. I feel weird in my right ear when playing high-notes on the piano.
3. My eyes are better, probably to replace my hearing.

What do you think? Do you think the piano is the cause? or what?

HUH , whatdidyousay?? No really I think you should have your ears checked out and get a hearing test. You could also have a wax buildup and that cause you have trouble hearing. And yes playing loud music can damage your hearing , if you around any loud sound for a long period of time it could damage your hearing.

Beethoven lost his hearing and he still was able to play the piano .

that stinks, hang in there because I'm sure you'll get it worked out anyhow!!! (I might see the audi next week anyways)

Your eyes are not going to get better to replace your hearing. You won't see more clearly you won't see further away. What can happen is you notice things more than others because you're always looking for visual cues to replace the information you've lost by not hearing.

If you were born deaf or lost your hearing in your first few years, your retina may develop the ability to gain more information from peripheral vision. If you did lose your hearing that early, you would have lived with that change your entire life and you wouldn't suddenly notice that you can see things better from the sides of your eyes.

I would definitely go to an ENT, have your ears checked out to make sure nothing is physically wrong and get a hearing test by an audiologist (in some ENTs they can do it all in one appointment)

I had to see my audi today, I was putting a battery in my HA and the tube crack off the HA and I can't wear a HA in my right ear anymore. I was told to go come down to their office . When I got there I found out my audi had moved and I never got the post card they send out. I get ton of junk mails postcards but not the one that I need. I got my tubed fixed but I did not realize not bad my hearing is not wearing a HA. I drove very carefully as I did not want a cop to pull me over , I would not had been able to hear him.

Don't worry too much about getting pulled over with no H.A. :) I have got pulled over without my C.I around, and before I had my C.I. Most officers seem pretty understanding. :) Also, in my state they put a restriction on the back of your license to indicate you're Deaf/deaf/HoH. :D Not sure if all states do that or not. :dunno2: Either way, most do seem to be very understanding. :) I also got lucky once and the officer happened to be a CODA. Thought that was pretty cool. :D Glad you didn't get pulled over though! :D

I was driving on a road where the cop are always pulling people over because of there being a lot kids walking to and from school everyday. I just had a cop follow my car the other day , he was just about tailgating me . I think he may had been on the on outlook for someone driving a red car. If I had done something the cop light would had been flashing. I could not hear without my HA and we have some cops that are real jerks, so I took no chance and was extra careful. I don't want to highjack the OP thread .

omg I had that happen with the earhook on my hearing aid where I accidently broke it off and somehow putting it together got my mom stumped so I ended up wearing my old hearing aid in my left ear for the whole summer (actually wore my 1st hearing aid in my left since I preferred the analog over for the bad side LOL)

I was shock that now little I could hear without a HA on . I have lost more hearing in my right ear. I am getting deafer too as I get older . I was told this would not happen.

California does not require the DMV to show that we are deaf but they do with vision. I'm not sure of all police departments, but some have the ability to pull up who the car is registered to and what restrictions we may have. That way if you do get pulled over the cop would already know you are deaf before approaching you.

I can't hear the sirens at all, but I am always looking in all my mirrors. I have only been pulled over one time in 30+ years and I plan on keeping it that way.
