Gallaudet University's traditional Rat Funeral

Oh wow that's interesting that they bury the stuffed rat in your time.
Do they still do it today?

I have no idea. I should ask any freshmans kiddos about it. All i know that there is no longer prep students now.

they killed the real rat?
where did they get it?

I had no idea because we have never done it. Royale might know something. sorry royale!

My Class of 1990 was the last class organization that used real dead rats in 1986. I was not involved with it because I entered there as a freshman. Some good friends of mine explained everything to me about the rat funeral and honestly I wished to be part of the tradition.

I tried to remember what year did they stopped using the real dead rats?

In my time, yes they did. I think it was a field mouse found on campus.
Naisho, this was in 1962 and I'm sure you weren't yet a gleam in your Daddy's eye so please leave the political correction out of this. :D

No protesting or PC here from me, just out of morbid curiosity. :D

At my event, the mouse was electrocuted....for the squeamish, it did not suffer.
