Ok I was thinking about this for some reason earlier... and I had to laugh...

When Adam was just tiny- like 2-3 mo old and didn't have his hearing aids yet... I had another child I was fostering living with us. And he was more of a screamer than Adam...

One day I noticed when ever T would scream Adam would turn his head so that his left ear was 'up'... he'd either be in the swing or carseat so he'd put his right ear (his moderate ear) down into the seat-- so he didn't have to hear T.

The day he got his HA's he pulled himself up in his carseat some and looked at T when he started 'talking' and the look on his face was "Dude, do you EVER shut up???" Then he flopped back and turned his head... he seemed irritated he couldn't 'shut him out' anymore!!

He learned early how to accomdate himself and block his 'brother' out! It was so funny to see!!

Just thought we could share some of those cute little stories here...

Miss at used to love to sing in the bathroom. She loved the reverb and how loud she could get.
Also, when she was little she would just constantly babble "Lar lar lar" and we used to joke that it must mean something very important. So one day we were out eating and she kept turning and staring at two men sitting not too far from us. (This was about 6 months after she got her aids and she was still hearing very well). I thought it was very odd until I got up to go to the bathroom and overheard them speaking a foriegn language. Right as a walked past I heard one of the men say something that sounded like "Lar Lar". I almost died laughing! It turns out that Miss Kat did have a message, just not in English!

HOW FUNNY!!!

The singing reminded me of something my brother used to do w/his HOH issues as a child-- when he wore headphones and would sing out loud it always sounded like a foriegn language... and w/his processing issues what he hears isn't WHAT he hears...

so one day he was in the back seat w/his little walkman (he was about 6-7) and was singing a song about 'Picnicking'... and it came out...

"We're going NECKIN' " (he emphysized neckin' as loud as he could! :naughty:) It was too funny mom almost had to pull the car over, she was trying not to laugh about it... (where he could see her)
