It perhaps will be the most excitement moment at E3... SquareEnix acquired the license to create a weapon-centric acton/RPG rpg/action game based on Fullmetal Alchemist, perhaps the most popular fansub anime at this moment with approx 30 mins worth of original animation. If you didn't watch Fullmetal Alcehmist.. I strongly suggest you to do so but beware, anime has lots of bloody scenes and some plots/storyline may offense christians as well but it rocks. I tell you! It is rockin'

More info about that at:

E3 2004: Fullmetal Alchemist - First Look
TGS 2003: Hands On with Fullmetal Alchemist

Words is that it attracts several famous developers and others to reschedule their plans/work so they can go to E3 and see SquareEnix's Fullmetal Alchemist show. Also there are like 500,000 - 5 millions FMA hardcore fans so I guess SquareEnix/PS2 will have thick pocket in 2005 from them.

If you want to know more about Fullmetal Alchemist, go to Fullmetal Alchemist site (English). That site may will load a bit slower because they have literally every 2,000 or so vistors who visits daily.

Screenshots: (Warning, it may load a big longer due to several screenshots. 56kers, patience please)

looks abit corny, but those graphics and style do impress me though

I wonder same thing but I am sure it will be very good storyline because of Fullmetal Alchemist. Fullmetal Alchemist also have childish comedy but it is good to have several chuckles sometimes. And rumors that it has a unique battle system as well, just like Xenogears.

There are often time that graphics does not mean anything, SNES/NES games proved that already. Example: Faxanadu, people are still talking about Faxanadu and how excellent game is, Faxanadu have a crappy graphic but story and fun factor is amazing.

abit off topic ^^;;; is it related to "full metal panic"? I haven't seen that one either but both names sound so damned similar lol

lol, no. it is different anime. Full Metal Panic have several hot chicks :D Full Metal Panic is all about one secret agency (guy) who protects one high school chick from secret organization but that high school chick just could not stand him, that's where comedy starts. There are several interesting stories that develop in that anime.

Oh yeah, I got your pm, I will reply you today with more information how to obtain Mezzo DSA.

Hmmm all right I totally understand now.

yeah, take your time about this Mezzo DSA stuff lol I will try my best obtain 'em and watch it.

It's not related to Full Metal Panic. It's actually two words, Fullmetal Alchemist.

Hmm... I don't know if I should try this game. I'm not exactly crazy for RPG games, but if it's better than I think... I might try it out.

I'm already a fan of the series. I've got Episodes #1 to #31. I can't wait until they complete it all when it ends at #52 next Fall.

Heh, unfortunately that I am a rpg fan. However this game will be action/rpg so it may give you what you would like to play.

Offtopic: Fullmetal Alchemist was licensed by Funi, it means that A-Keep&ANBU will not translate anymore .-.

I have the serie up to ep 31 as well, I guess I will go for Sonchou's translation from now.

Hmm... it seems like this is a game that will probably stay in Japan. The television series hasn't even been released here in America so I doubt they would do well with their marketing when they release this game in America. Japan tends to release a lot of games related to popular animes in Japan, but they don't do that much in America.

Here's another example...

Inuyasha was released in Japan as a television series. Now, they are at #148. I have all 148 episodes. They only released #1 to #6 in America. They also have Inuyasha for Playstation 2, but it's only in Japan. As long as it's sitting in Japan and not coming to America, we will never see the game for Inuyasha. Note: It's actually "Inu Yasha" in America and "Inuyasha" in Japan. ;)

Hmm... I hope they keep their compression methods. Every episode is exactly 170 MB, give or take a few KB. Inuyasha was hell because each compression was completely different. #1 to #50 ranged from 75 MB to 150 MB. Now, the rest are over 150 MB. Fansubs were also constantly changing after every few episodes. Grr!

Anyway, I already read the website. It does sound better than I thought. However, I might wait for it to be lowered to $20 before buying it.

Well, they plan to release FMA game for America for sure but questionable for europeans or PAL countries though. Because of E3, any games that show up at E3 usually come out to America. I guess we will find out next month when E3 open to public.

Edit: To my understanding that Inu Yasha isn't that popular like FMA do. So maybe that's why they did not bother to release it to America?

Yeah I know what you mean about compression, it sometimes frustrate to deal with that. Or worse, some groups decide to change the subtitle color from white to purple or green! I absolutely hate it.

Sonchou's translation is pretty good, not that excellent like A-Keep but they did the job. Their FMA releases are usually approx 175 mbs so far.

I'm more excited to try "crimson tears" which should be out for the PS2 this summer.

:P

Have you heard of a mod chip? see, if you really wanted to play Japanese games, the best bet is to get a mod chip installed into your console and play proably BOTH American and Japanese games on one console...I was thinking about getting one for my PS2 since there were already some "Love Hina" games for GBA, Playstation 2, and Dreamcast...yet, the "Love Hina" series (animation and manga) are released in the US but not the games?!?!? dammit why do the Japanese always get the lucky stuff?

So I'm still not too sure if I can really get this mod chip to work on my PS2 that long or how much it really cost or where to get it, etc...I'm still doing some more research on it though

Yeah modchip is one of possiblities to get what you want but it is risky. If you somehow break your PS2 with a modchip, Sony will not fix it for you if you do that. If you have extra PS2 then go for it. For me, I prefer to not unless I have another extra PS2 to fool around.

Also for me, it isn't important to play the japanese games in some sense because I could NOT understand their langauge :( I always want to get Battle Angel Alita (Gunnm) Motor and Mars games but I can't anyway because these games have lots of dialogues so I am stuck.

I wonder if does RIT/NTID offers japanese language learning class...?

I would recommend that u import a Japanese-spec PS2 even though it may cost more than mod-chip the PS2. The Japanese-spec PS2's come in different colors other than black so it would be easy for you to distinguish which PS2 you need to play your Japanese import discs on it. Besides modchipping your existing PS2 may cause more problems than you bargained for...but your call then....

M$ can detect mod-chipped xbox on xboxLive and ban that particular box off the network.

That is why Im in favor of importing a Japanese-spec stuffs straight from Japan instead of modchipping a US-spec PS2, xbox or GCN....

Yes, they do... but the problem would be interpreters. From what I hear, the class begins with all English. The next course is half and half. The last course is all Japanese. A friend of mine had to give a presentation on a short 2-page topic orally in front of the teacher. That was his final exam.

VamPyroX, so are you saying that I have to learn how to oral? Actually I am totally stupid in oral thingy so I guess I will fail the class gaurantee heh. Well, I would like to know your opinion if it is worth for me to take the class or not?

Since you mentioned about all english then half and half.. that sounds bit ridiculous but maybe I am wrong to think that way..

Edit: what do you mean about interpreter? it isn't writing class? In all honesty, I have absolutely no idea what people will do in japanese langauge learning class.

Well, when it comes to learning in class... they need to provide interpreters who can communicate with you in your own language. If you wanted to take a Japanese class, then they would have to find an interpreter that can speak and sign Japanese as well. When that happens, you're gonna end up having to learn Japanese language and sign language too. That's doubling the work in less time. Eek! Would you want to do that? You're probably better off learning on your own with those do-it-yourself computer programs. After a year or two, you'll probably be more ready to take those classes.

Now, back to the topic... I hope they release the movie here soon because it's gonna be hard to market the game without the movie. Some games make sense because people know the story behind the movie. If the game was made first, then the movie was next... then the movie wouldn't be good because people are more focused on the game. This already happened with other game-related movies. Ever see Super Mario Brother, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter? Well, those movies were made after the games. Because of that, the storyline isn't that great and many people who see the movie after the game have given a lot of criticism on the movies. When people who see the movie first then play the game next, they end up being confused. Remember when they made a game based on Street Figher: The Movie? That game made more sense because it was related to the movie. Many of my friends who never played the anime version of Street Fighter and saw the live action version of Street Fighter: The Movie ended up enjoying the live action version of the game because it made sense. That's what I'm hoping won't happen with this Fullmetal Alchemist game. I hope that it stays true to its storyline.
