Hey all
So, i've been trying to use the phone part on my iphone on my CI's on t-coil. It doesn't seem to work very well. I noticed that when I use the t-coil on both CI's, the phone part seems really quiet and even with me turning the phone up all the way to it's maximum volume, it still seems quiet.

Then i decided to try the phone without t-coil, still doesn't work, still sounds really quiet. Does other people with CI's have this problem too? I don't use the phone part very often but sometimes my band friends have to call me to ask for a ride to practice because their texting is turned off. I mainly text, but if people call me i'll answer it but only on speaker phone because thats when it seems like its more louder and i can understand it pretty well. But still, it seems difficult. I turned on the HA compatibility, doesn't help, turned it off, still doesn't help. I used the personal bilaterial audio cable, doesn't work as well, it works pretty well with using it as a personal headphone for the ipod part of the phone.

any ideas, tips, or help?

:ty::ty:

It is quieter than normal. I had my 2nd program volume upped but only for using t-coil.

every once a while, the phone and the t-coil doesnt even "link" up so i just turn on the normal program and go with it, but it makes me mad when it doesnt link up when I really need it.

I usually have my phone on speaker, but sometimes some convos you just cant have in front of friends/families members so when I do have the phone next to my ear, sometimes tcoil works really well and other times it doesnt work as I want it too.

I wish I had a newer phone as theyre more "hearing compatible". My house phone, I cant even use cause it does NOT have hearing compatible technology, and makes a crap load of static, so i never pick up the house phone lol.

I never use the house phone either, its always too quiet and t-coil def does not work with my house phone. My old phone, the samsung propel, worked great with my t-coil on my CI freedom but texting was crappy and service was crappy so i upgraded to the iphone 4. And the first thing i did was try out the phone part, too quiet, and t-coil doesn't work with it at all. and I would use speaker phone but only if i'm in my room private.

do you place the call's output sound right next to the mics? thats what I do when the tcoil doesnt work.

yep, i usually put my CI on t-coil first before i even make a call or get a call, i would tell the caller to hold on a min to get my t-coil set up. but usually t-coil doesn't work on the N5, i rely on t-coil on my freedom.

so youre carrying both the n5 and freedom at all times?

I dont want to brag but out of all deaf people ive met, i seemed to have the easiest experiences with phone calls. Even sometimes I think that n5 is better just having the t-coil off and just use the mics to talk on the phone.

This makes me miss the Advance bonic's harmony processor, that processor was the best ever for phone calls, music, and even worked with ear buds

I heard that a lot before. sorry about the previous response, i was in a hurry trying to get out of the house for school.

I use the t-coil for both implants, yes. But i rely on the t-coil on my freedom than my n5. the left side is the freedom and the right side is the n5. the left side is my good ear and my right side is my bad ear. I think i'm more used to listening through my left ear ever since my right ear was just a HA and i only had the n5 implanted on my right for about a year. I'm still kind of learning how to use the t-coil on the n5. My audiologist kept telling me that I would get better results with the t-coil if i used it for music, especially the phone. Before i got the iphone, the samsung propel phone part of it worked great, i could understand it (sometimes) but sometimes the t-coil would get so static-y and i would barely understand it and i would end up putting the phone on speakerphone. But I tried experimenting myself with the iphone and the implants to see which i would hear better, when i put the phone up near my mic of both implants, it sounds ridiculously quiet and i couldn't understand a darn thing. one of my friends think that if i download an app for the iphone to make it louder, it would work but honestly not all the apps on the iphone would be that great or even work.
