Since I am not Deaf, not even 'deaf' I have no slightest idea. I can only suppose, guess or imagine certain things so yes,
I do feel the film reflects some of the issues and experiences the Deaf worldwide encounter.
No, it is neither unique to nor completely different from the Deaf.
Every human group, every society (or more exact - a "sub-society") struggle with feelings of not belonging, being ostracized, mis-understood
or entirely not understood, bullied, abused and as a result of all that feeling only a "half-person".
So, in that aspect all of us can commiserate and sympathize (also empathize) regardless of a root of the feelings.
