Hi, the Deaf Adoptions facebook site was recently created with the intention of developing a network of agencies, foster/adoptive parents, and supporters. If you or your friends are interested in adopting, send us an email! This is still a new site, but we are optimistic that it will begin to be successful with connecting deaf kids with forever families very soon :)

We are truly in need of families to foster and adopt deaf kids, and are working together to create a list of families and children that we can link accross the country.

Thank you from us at Deaf Adoptions.

What are the requirements to adopt/foster?
How much is the cost to adopt/foster?
If we live in a different state, can we still adopt/foster?
Is there pictures of the children?

I'm asking questions because the thought of adoption lingered my mind here and there.

I am interested in adopting so I need to do some research :)

Just a word of advice. Maybe a good idea might be to differentate between "just dhh" kids and "dhh" kids who may be more severely affected, like they have really significent nereological/developmental issues from parental drug or alchohol abuse. Not that there's anything "wrong" per se with kids like that. But the thing is, some potential parents may only want to adopt a kid who is "just" dhh, since they may not feel they can raise a kid with more complicated issues. Just as an aside, that's NOT being "oh kids with multiple issues are "bad" or not "really deaf" or anything like that. It can be very challenging raising kids like that (and not just with severely medically complex/fragile or severely multihandicapped, like the kids in wheelchairs who are deaf-blind and have about ten million issues) Sometimes, kids who may have been prenatally drug or alhcohol exposed, may have really severe behavorial issues
You may also want to note if a kid has relatively mild issues (for example mild cerebal palsy style developmental issues vs intellectucal disablity style issues)
