Notice so many numbers of guests peeking around and not bother to post or sign in while very few posters post or sign in based by average daily. With over 7k members .. not everyone comes daily but in times .. still rather so way low response?

420 (11 members and 409 guests)(8 signed in) at this time but notice that as about the average daily so far since I joined.

Why? It baffles me bit. I'm quite new here, though.
Just curious. (No personal, here ok)

Those guests are lurkers who are banned, did not registered or sign-in, They just want to be nosey and lurk around AllDeaf to see what's happening. Which is very common to have lurkers, You could say they're either too chicken to post or couldn't be able to post. :P

i agree that guests is spying on something RME

you are right cheri they are too chicken to sign in ha

i was once guest one time cuz i was curious about all deaf then i sign in and i am member smile

What I think the originator of this topic means is that there are about 7, 000 members; where are they??

Yeah I second you ya... Tousi..

I wish that some AD'ers member who have not been here and sitting their sn here for longest years... I've seen those listing so many ...

Should have wipe it off all who hasn't here for a year or more... why is that bother ?

:werd: I'm with you on that one, I think members who haven't been posting for a long time should have their member's name remove from the members listing. ;)

Yes I´m with you and GalaxyAngel...

If you click on the Who's Online link, you'll notice that most of the guests are search engine spiders. The rest of them are people who found our site using particular keywords on search engines. I would say a handful of these guests are strictly lurkers.

Serouisly.. High volume percent

Yahoo spider, Guest and others..
are lurkers and on AD..
How can you protect your precouisly AD ?
Allow them lurkers snoopin into General Chat only.. instead rest of all thread?
How your solution the problem?

Ummmm, I very often have guests staying at my place and using my computer while I am out doing my thing. They are fascinated with this forum and I see nothing wrong with it as long as they do not try to make posts with my handle. (That happened a couple times, but believe you me, I put the fear of God into them, lol.)

Just curious to make sure. .

I did notice while setting up options & such that there was an option to be invisible. .

So if an AD user was online but invisible. . would they be counted as guest?

A lot of those guests are spiders from search engines. I know sometimes I'll stop in for a quick peek without logging in...generally this is if I'm just getting ready for work or after I got off but need to wait at the station for a few minutes. I'll hop on a computer and take a peek without logging in.

Hmm, thanks. I think it answered enough except the lurkers part. It was what I expected ..

but there were hundreds of lurkers?!

ps. Yep, it shouldnt be surprised about these others who are shy and may be embarassed to use broken english in this forum .. maybe.

well most of those are yahoo, msn, google, or some other bots from the search engine, but yes some are lurkers yes i happen to be one of them when im @ a business and just want to check the forum out for a min to see what's up. but mainly.... most of these are those who IMO and i have repeatively said it time and time again, most of these are always heading for the penisaurim :-X and thats where the young ones wants to see whats hot there....... and some others who are new are checking to see if there is a forum thats worthy and won't log in til thier absoutely sure they want to become a member. u know it took me abt 4 months before i became a member here, thanks to fly free and wildericaz. they both helped me find my path and saw that theres more than small handfull but ALOT of walks of life who taught me more abt culure. but this is not the thread starters questions.. abt 70% of the guest are usually the spiders ( aka the google, msnbot, yahoo!slurp and variious other bots ) from the search engine. so don;t worry abt thw * guest* who don't sign in, most of them are in here anyway as a invisible cuz many are usually at work or dont want to be besieged with posting and or don't want others to know if thier on or not.

Quick look and gone

I'm the same way. When I first found AD, I lurked and just read posts for two months before actually registering. The other Deaf board didn't have moderators and it was full of BS and name-calling. No thanks.

I wish there was an option to see all the new posts going back just a week or so. If I'm online for only 15-20 minutes, I won't bother logging in since this resets everything. My sis and nephew use this PC as much as I do. I'll log in only when I know I have plenty of time to read everything I want.
