I know I can use an e-mail client to create a new e-mail message, copy the URL from my address bar, paste it to my message, and then send it, but why does a forum tell me that I'm not able to "e-mail this page" due to not having permission? That's like saying "hotlinking a URL to a thread in a message body of an e-mail is not allowed."

Is this true? Has this question been asked before? I didn't recall asking a question about that.

Where are you doing this "E-mail This Page" from?

If you go to Thread Tools and choose "E-Mail This Page" in any thread, you get this:

GraysonPeddie, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Ah, got it. I'll check into it. It works for me. Does it work for anyone else?

I just checked into it and it works just fine for me.

Email this page works for me, as I just checked it out and sent this thread page to my SK email address.

I could email this thread w/o problems. Maybe certain parts on this forum arent allowed to let that happen?

What web browser are you using, GP?

I am using the Internet Explorer and it doesnt work for me either, I tested to email this very page and was recieved an error such what GP got.

Did you try it with Firefox or any other browser that you might have on your computer?

No, Vampy - I don't have FF on my work PC, unfortunately.

I just tested to send "E-mail this page" using Safari browser. It did worked fine. The one I tested out was on SK browser few days ago.

Could the forum software be so browser-agnostic? It doesn't work in IE 8 Beta 2.

Why does it matter what browser I'm using?

I had tried test to email this page but still got same problem as GP and Jake, I had test on both of Firefox 3 and Safari then same problem.

No, I had test on Firefox 3 and Safari then got same problem as you stated about IE 8.

I just noticed something in this thread like a pattern, it seems like VIP members can't do "E-mail this page" as GraysonPeddie, Jclarke and Pacman are VIP members.

Liza is a regular member can do "E-mail this page".

:dunno:

Ok, I tried again... using all browsers on my computer.

Internet Explorer 7 - YES
Firefox 3 - YES
Opera 9 - YES
Chrome Beta - YES
