NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Fans of Hardee's new "Monster Thickburger" may end up making "Big Mac" lovers look like waif-like supermodels.

Hardee's rolls out its new "Monster Thickburger," which contains two 1/3-pound slabs of Angus beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered sesame seed bun.

As many fast-food restaurants cut back the fat and calories in their offerings, Hardee's Food Systems Inc. is betting that Americans are ready to sink their teeth into its new and improved "Monster" burger.

St. Louis-based Hardee's said its new burger boasts two 1/3-pound slabs of Angus beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of American cheese and some mayonnaise -- all on a buttered, toasted, sesame seed bun.

The "Monster Thickburger" will cost about $5.49, Hardee's said. But chowing down on the 1,420-calorie burger, which contains 107 grams of fat, will cost around $7 with fries and a soda.

"The (original) 'Monster Burger' was one of our most popular menu items," Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for Hardee's, said in a statement. "(But) it's now a 'Thickburger.'"

Many fast-food chains, including McDonald's (Research) and Wendy's International (Research), have tried to offer healthier menu items to cater to Americans on low-fat, low-carb diets.

But Hardee's said the "Monster Thickburger" is not all it has to offer on its menu.

"In about 30 days, we will be introducing a BBQ chicken sandwich that would only have 4 grams of fat and 300 calories. We just have a wide range of selections for everybody," Haley said.

Hardee's is owned by CKE Restaurants (Research) of Carpinteria, Calif., whose stock rose about 1 percent Monday.

i don't mind try :D high calories isn't a big deal for me..

But 107 grams of fat?

This is just one reason why Americans are getting fatter and fatter every year due to fast food resturants exploiting their weaknesses.

20 years later, your arteries will be sooooo clogged up ...even Draino wont work *grins*

Err... I don't think the corporations are exactly getting the message of how serious the obesity problem is in the USA.

Apparently.

You know, in Canada... McDonald's food are smaller than the McDonald's food in the USA. In Canada, our super size fries is the same as large fries in the USA, and they still have super large. Yikes. It's the same with their pops.

It's insane.

How is that insane?..

If people wants to order a super size then that's up to them there's nothing insane about it....

Actually I agree with Banjo on this - it is insane because when you travel overseas, you will notice that the portions are much smaller than what we have here. We no longer know what is a normal/healthy portion is anymore. Even small fry is considered normal overseas but here, we must Supersize it.

It is no wonder America is growing fatter and obsesity is public health crisis right now but no one is doing anything about the corporations who rake in millions of dollars ..it is same thing with tobacco companies who turned blind to consumers health and now paying the price with pricey lawsuits these days.

You know, a supersized pop from McDonald's can contain around from 42 to 54 teaspoons of sugar. In the USA, that is.

I can't drink that much in one sitting. It's just too much sugar for me.

Yes Banjo I am aware of that, but when I am away on the road I do order super size drink but am I insane?...

That why I don't understand what so insane about it, I suppose every person is different....

Other countries do view us as insane because we are spoiled by " size " . Everything must be BIG here. Food, cars, houses, yards, etc.

It doesnt mean you are insane but it is an insane act ..because most resturants dont bother to educate us about amount of grams of sugar/fats etc in each item - we don't realize how quickly all adds up and that is just in one meal.

Yes its a choice ..but I think that we are not getting enough education/awareness that is insane. With proper information, we will be able to make better choices and realize that eating these kind of foods is as bad as puffing away on a cigarette or whatnot.

Ohhhhhhhhhh I got it now Meg, Forgive me guys I guess my mind isn't in the right place this afternoon!....

Thank you for explaining it a bit more clear!...

Ooh... that sounds nice! I think I'll try one the next time I'm out driving! ;)

i understand how people are getting fatter and fatter.. but in fact.. i never gained weight after eatting all those fats and those high calories.. I have a high metabolism that's the reason why i can't get myself fat...

My option.. people are starting to have low meatbolism.. by some certain reason why.. Who knows why that people are starting to became lower metabolism which makes them fatter even eatting low fat foods..

Since my family generation all have high metabolism which is good.. and we all live long so the fat issue isn't our problem, but yeah its still unhealthy but its just the way our body can handle it.. does it makes sense?

Thats why high fat and calories doesn't matter to me.. my grandfather also have high metabolism and he's 87 years old still alive and healthy but he eats fats. never had a heart problem. i guess its just depend on people on their metabolism levels.

Not really, they just eat more and don't exercise.

It's true that some people will luck-out of their problems, but metabolism doesn't always save you from other problems like diabetes, heart attacks, clogged arteries, etc. Metabolism just burns calories faster. Clinton is an example. He's in good shape, but ate lots of fast food that he ended up with a heart bypass. My friend, that's a painful surgery. My grandfather has had it done, but he isn't fat either.

Some people will never think in a million years that it might happen to them just because of so and so, but really no one knows unless you have a continuous medical family history with a problem. Just never think never. It's a real problem. Some people need to visually see and experience what is so wrong with our food portions. I can't have a large supersize drink, large fries and a bigmac. Usually I leave fries for last. I once ate out for about a week with my aunt who likes to eat out (note:she had the gastric bypass) and I felt so bloated the last 2 days and gained 5 pounds that week alone. It's that bad.

I think I could share this burger with my husband and two kids and we'd all be full!

I do like Hardee's burgers, but I cannot even finish the 1/3 pound burger. I can't imagine who's eating this burger with fries and soda too!
