Reflections of Cueing Parents: A New NCSA Publication!
National Cued Speech Association
April 17, 2007 - The National Cued Speech Association is pleased to
announce the release of Reflections of Cueing Parents, a booklet that
contains eight inspiring stories written by cueing parents, for parents
and professionals in the field of deafness.
Cued Speech is a visual communication system that uses handshapes,
hand placements and hand movements combined with mouth
movements to clearly show the stream of consonants and vowels that
represent words in spoken languages.
Edited by Amy Ruberl, M.E.D., the eight stories capture the
perspectives of a native deaf adult cueing parent with deaf twins, a
parent who learned about Cued Speech when their child was ten years
old and severely language-delayed, and a mother with a deaf child who
has processing disorders that complicate his language development.
These and the other stories in the booklet provide hope and inspiration
to readers.
If you’ve ever wanted to know what parents went through when learning their child was deaf and how they came across Cued Speech, this is the booklet for you! Contact info@cuedspeech.org for your free copy today!
