Bott's mention of walnuts made me think how when I was a young kid and even in my teens I HATED nuts and just in the last couple of years I have started to really like walnuts. So am wondering - if there any food you like now as adults or older teens <if applicable>, that as a young person or young child you disliked?

I suddenly find I like chocolate, all through childhood until a couple of years ago I hated it, now I like it. Real chocolate and things like chocolate flavoured drinks.

I know, I'm weird for not liking it in the first place. ;)

I'm the opposite - I used to really like chocolate, but now I can't stand it.

I used to like hot dogs growing up but don't now. I used to hate broccoli and brussel sprouts but now I really like them both.

oh I like black eyed peas too - but as you, LDNanna, I didn't like them as a kid. Interestingly, we have photos of me as a young child eating and love green peas and green beans though.

I know some folks who don't like chocolate - my husband is one. He doesn't like chocolate cake or ice cream or anything. But he likes other sweets.
I on the other hand, looooooove chocolate:drool:

I vividly recall my folks trying to get me to eat broccoli and cauliflower as a child and I thought it tasted too wierd...also remember my mom having runny over-easy eggs and toast and smushing the toast in the egg yolk and I said, eww, that's gross - and she responded, someday you'll probably like it - and I do:lol:

Chocolate, didn't like it then, now I do, but more if it coats something else like raspberry or orange jelly.

Cheese. But now I like, Swiss, very sharp Cheddar, and Bleu cheese.(Actually I liked Bleu cheese dressing as a child.)

I eat such a limited diet it would be easier to say what I will eat at all.

I disliked fried eggplants, black bean sauce chicken (chinese food), varies of spicy foods when mom tried to feed me as i was a kid. Now I love food what mom loves, at most.

useless scientific explanation for those who care :o - "why do we love the food now when we hated it before as a child?"

As a child - our taste buds and sense of smell are sensitive and strong so it's disgusting to us. As we grow up, our sensitivity decreases over time.... so... you know.

Milk. I bought a half gallon of organic whole milk a few months ago. Rarely ever drank milk since childhood. Now I can go through a half gallon a day.
Red jalapeno peppers. Ruby red grapefruit from Texas.

Ok I have a LOOOONNNGGGGG List of foods that I used to hate but cant live without now..

Lettuce
onions
green beans
carrots
corn
brussel sprouts
pineapple
mushrooms (now I am addicted to them!)
asparguts
broccoli
cauliflower
penut butter and jelly
beer
whiskey
wine

It is also know that a person has to try it at least 7 times or more to "acquire" a taste for it

Taste buds also known to decrease in sensitivity.. it also changes.. Depending on your diet and etc.

Cole Slaw used to gag me majorly... Now I love the stuff!!!
