Food stamps at restaurants?

I personally think it shouldnt be allowed. I'm just speechless at the sheer greed of these corporations. I'm truly glad I am not a customer of theirs.

I agree. I think most states already have exceptions in place for people who are unable to cook because of poor health or a disabilityto be allowed to buy prepared foods. I know NY does.

I esp. think fast foods restaurants shouldn't be approved.

Another thing at consideration is that AFAIK, the food stamp allowance is not a large amount. Most people would be far better off buying healthier less expensive foods in a grocery store -- the allowance would stretch farther. It might even last the full month!

Many things bought in the grocery store are just as bad. You have a hard time forcing people to eat healthy foods if they want something else.

I think certain people should be exempt. Like seniors, disabled, and homeless people. The foodstamps should use it to pay for services like "meals on wheels" etc. Not for fast food resturants.

It is ridiculous...I am not on food stamps and I have a job but I can barely afford to go out eat at restaurants these days. Hell no to this!

Oh boy - this is a tough one. My boyfriend's family is dirt dirt poor and they survive on food stamps. They are always running out before the month ends and then they would subsist literally on bread and scraps until they get more stamps. It's a very tough way to live and I think it would have done them a lot of good if they could go out and have a nice meal once a month. There are plenty of nice restaurants that are not expensive nor necessarily any more fattening than food one eats at home unless we're talking about fast food franchises, of which in my opinion, is not real food.

Then again, if they spent $30 on a meal, that's $30 worth of groceries they would have to go without and I don't think they can afford to do so.

The food stamps program was started to help farmers stay in business and people to buy fresh food. I don't think some people realize why this program
was started by the government.

I agree with you....although the first calls for this came from the people on food stamps....then Ronald and the gang jumped in.

I don't mind food stamps for restaurants but they should not pay the same price as regular consumers. They should give them automatic 30% discounts.

It costs money to cook - if you don't have cookware, microwave, gas, stove, etc then how are you gonna eat well?

Hmm. you have a point there.

Hmm, that's a thought.

True. Some of my worst choices are cheeze and pepperoni calzones, potato chips and so on but it will be cheaper than getting them at a fast food place or at a nice resturant. Even nicer restuarnts have dishes that are very fattening.
