Just a little RANT.. my BRAND NEW FM SYSTEM BROKE!!! I only got it in december, and its broken! I didn't do anything! Turned it off and put it on my desk in my room, went for lunch, came back and it won't turn on!
Of course, this had to happen on my busiest day of school.. so now i have about 8 hours of class that I couldn't hear anything!!!
I'm exhausted from trying to make sense of everything!
Anyway, going tmrw to bring it back to the audie to send it to get fix. Anyone know if Phonak will give me a loaner?

:ty:for listening!

No prolly not...i don't think they do loaners for FM...but your school should have a loaner. That's what I did when mine had to be fixed. and wow we must have something in common my naida broke today and had to get sent in...the speaker apparently is ripped or something ...woopie for us!..not lol

Does anyone else notice the pattern?

Phonak "cutting edge" technology and brokeness...Don't say I didn't warn everyone!

Lol. I just keep my fingers crossed.. another Phonak girl over here. And my mic was out of commission for a couple weeks with no loaner D: I don't know if it was the charger or the metal connections on the FM, but the thing could not get re-charged. Brought it back to my aud, waited forever.... eventually I'm pretty sure they just gave me a new FM and charger.

hmm.. what were your FM symptoms?? mine just shut off and wont turn back on. Doesnt flash the battery sign, and when i plug it in doesnt flash the charging sign either.

yes jenny... you warned us! i just wish i was fluent in ASL and could say 'screw you' hearing aids and FM. Need to start thinking about what I want to request for next year..

Have you thought of replacing it under warranty because it should be covered under the warranty for self-failures.

Good idea...don't pay a penny or a 1/2 penny for it either...:)

Well- I doubt phonak themselves give out loaners, but I know many Audiologists will provide loaners for thier customers.

Evilqueen- maybe it didnt lose FM, maybe the digital programming somehow got lost and just needs to be reprogrammed? Its a 5 mins fix in the office and free. Well- at least it was for me. where are you located ?

NOPE! NO LOANER! ridiculous! What part of I RELY on it for my schooling do they NOT understand!?! I would expect that if I'm paying almost $4000 for this system A) that it works and b) that if it breaks I can get a loaner!:mad::evil::mad:

Are there other accomondations that you could use until you get the FM back? Like front row seating/seminar (circle ) style seating? Notetakers/copy of the notes?
I haven't used an FM since fourth grade and have done fine.

Yhep. Same thing. I'm almost 100% positive they just gave me a new one, with a new charger. It wouldn't register that it was being charged at all. I tried it a million different ways, because at first I thought that I had left it on or something when I charged it. Then, when it repeatedly wouldn't take a charge... took it to the aud. Mine took forever. Just went with hearing aids. Made most of my teachers panic, which was surprizing. They actually asked what was going on, if they could help me, whatever. Of course, mind you, this wasn't college. I would definitely try and get a note taker/captionist until you get it replaced. Go for it.
A company needs to start refurbishing equiptment like this, whether by donation or small fee for people's equiptment they don't want to use, and have it as an emergency service. Though there is the issue of programming it. I don't know. A girl can dream, right?

Hey kids,

I have been busy and not been able to answer all your posts promptly enough. Sorry about that.

Lisa, your SmartLink+ is likely not broken at all. It probably simply had a data collision. To get it working again, see page 48 of your User Guide. It says...

"Restarting SmartLink+
In case of a system problem, SmartLink+ can be restarted by
simultaneously pressing the three microphone keys.
When these buttons are pressed, the SmartLink+ will switch
itself OFF and restart automatically. "

If that doesn't work and it needs repair, don't worry, it will be under warranty. Lastly, please contact Phonak Canada at 1-800-876-1167. Ask for my email address. Then we can arrange to have a loaner system sent to you.

Cheers!

I'm pretty sure it was more than that.. nothing happened whenever I tried to push a button... i think at some point i did try pressing more than one button. Anyway, it's been dropped off to the audiologist now. I will have him call to arrange for a loaner, thanks.
