HERE TO A HEARING FUTURE!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my plight, it really does mean a lot!!!
I am training hard for the London Marathon and very excited about it all.
We all take our hearing for granted if it has not been effected in anyway, but as most of us grow older our hearing can deteriorate so it is important that we take this into consideration and do all you can to protect your hearing as much as possible.
I was born with cerebral palsy (This condition is a result of lack of oxygen to the brain during birth, in my case the umbilical cord got wrapped round my neck during birth), which caused a nerve damage in both my ears. I am running for this amazing charity because I want other people in all generations from babies to elderly to have their hearing disability cured or restored
"It can be annoying having to isolate myself away from groups of people because I cannot keep up with what is being said and then being asked if I am alright because I am not laughing, reacting to a comment being said or simply not joining in the conversations etc... I understand the frustrations this has on hearing people also"
I am not after sympathy, but because unlike other disabilities, deafness cannot be seen, therefore attracts little public sympathy or understanding, yet our ability to communicate shapes our lives.
So for a hearing future for all of us please sponsor this unique and amazing charity.
A little bit about the charity. Deafness research uk are the leading charity funding scientific/ medical research in the UK and are working towards a cure for deafness and improve latest equipment whilst waiting for a cure, such as digital hearing aids. The charity produce newsletters regularly informing the public about any developing stories, which is essential as before I knew about this charity I did not know where to go to obtain this information. The charity is actually very good because of this and it makes them unique in their own way. Their website is Deafness Research UK : Hearing Research Trust : Deafness Research UK, the medical charity for deaf and hard of hearing people for more information.

I have to say they are involved in a programme that could help cure my hearing impediment in the next few years, but they need more funds to continue this programme to work further on a medical procedure before they will offer human trials.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Deafness Research UK gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now on Justgiving - Kevin Balfour's Fundraising Page or if you prefer to sponsor the traditional way, I do have forms that you can fill in and I can collect the cash, if this is the methodyou choose then email me on kevinbalfour@rocketmail.com

Also please please, please, please pass this around and try and get your friends and families to sponsor me also.

Thanks a million!!!!!

Kevin x
