Flaming tires explode in bridal store

WILCOX, Pa. -- A number of brides-to-be in northwest Pennsylvania may still be looking for something old, something new and something blue - but something borrowed might be an absolute necessity.
Several hundred bridal gowns were destroyed after flaming tires spun off a passing tractor-trailer and smashed through the wall of the Bauer's Brides and Belles in Wilcox, about 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Burning rubber from the exploding tires splattered throughout the store and destroyed at least 200 dresses, store co-owner Kathleen McDonald said.
``For the ones that are being married in the next several weeks, there's not much we can do,'' McDonald said.
The accident occurred after hours Monday and there were no injuries, but the building was demolished, state police said.
With summer approaching, the store was completely filled with gowns, the owners said.
``We were probably at our peak a far as dresses in the store,'' co-owner JoAnne Allegretto said. ``Stock-wise, and order-wise, stuff was coming in daily; the racks were full.''
