Here's a burning question for you all:

Is fingerspelling ASL or English....and why?

My question is are you deaf or hearing and why did you wait 8 years before participating here?

I'll answer your question if you answer mine! I am Deaf. In the course of all those years, I completely forgot about AD. I happened to stumble across AD recently and remembered I was once a member on the site.

Now, you can answer my question.

It can be part of ASL since there are no signs for many words/names such as map, Amazon.com, Toyota and so on. As for the word "tools", I fingerspell it. What about you?

Who cares except Bott? You didn't have to answer his second question, you know that?

I guess you tried to be nice like Yoda. May the force be with you!

OK. I think English, as in any sign language , things with no sign will be spelled in the language of the country.

I also think ASL relies on spelling more than some other sign languages.

(And that's pretty rude Crazy Paul. I never did anything to you, and if I am the only one interested, I am able to ask my questions so I feel comfortable participating in a conversation with a stranger.)

I didn't mean to be rude, really. You are right about wanting to ask a question. We also have a right not to answer a question like "why did you come back?" because it makes us feel unwelcome. Oh, well let's move on.

That's ok. And I am not a he...

Of course, I am nice like Yoda. Haha. Well, she had every right to ask me that question and naturally, I have every right not to answer! I answered the question because it is quite a legitimate question. I have been a member since 2004, but my post count doesn't show that. :-p

Anyways, moving on. Let this thread be the focus of my burning question, not me.
