Does anyone else have really bad feedback on their cochlear implant? Even when I turn the volume down or turn it a different way, it squeals and, quite frankly, freaks people out at school because they don't know what the heck it is.

Cochlear implants don't make external noise.

Ok, I'm confused. I thought a baha and a cochlear implant were the same thing. You'd think I'd know, but my audiologist and family interchange the terms.

Baha is really a bone anchored hearing aid . A CI is something quite different.

you can do hear practice? volume? did you adjustment channel ? you experience new sound ? control on volume sometimes on on environment? Sometimes It is noise you learn it cochlear implant

Cheer!

They prolly do that b/c BAHA is now made by coachlear.....Before it was made by Entific.

Basically, BAHA is a little rectangle that's attached to your skull behind your ear. It takes sound and makes it into vibrations that vibrate to your (working) inner ear. It bypasses a damaged outer or middle ear (for conductive hearing loss). Cochlear implant is for people who's inner ear doesn't work as well. It transforms sound into electrical signals that directly stimulate the auditory nerve. ( this is at least how I understand it.. Sorry if I got anything wrong)

yeah CI's definitely don't have feedback. and I know nothing about BAHA's.

Cochlear implants definitely don't give external feed backs.

I don't know about BAHA. I guess it's time for a check up with your BAHA audiologist.

Both devices are for completely different hearing loss, used very differently. Perhaps have a read about it as you will know more about your BAHA.

You need to go back to your audiologist if its really bothering you. Your Audi will have all the answers.

BAHA = Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (Works on vibrating amplified sound through the bone)

CI = Cochlear Implant (Electronic Hearing)

Two very different things...

Curious, why did your parents pick BAHA over CI?

BAHA is for conductive loss (middle ear) and CI is for sensinurel loss (inner ear). If you qualify for one, you would highly likely not qualify for other.

People can have mixed loss but most of the time still doesn't qualify them for a CI.

Yes exactly. BAHA is for a very specific market.....they were also really obscure until coachlear bought Entific.
