TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)- The Federal Bureau of investigation is asking for help identifying 241 minor victims in a disturbing international child porn case involving a Florida man.
The suspect, Lucas Michael Chansler, 31, formerly of St. Johns, Fla., pleaded guilty to producing child pornography. According to court testimony, Chansler allegedly targeted 350 minor victims in 26 different states, including Florida. Chansler’s alleged victims also resided in Canada and the United Kingdom. Of the 350 minor victims, 109 have been identified. The FBI is asking for help identifying the remaining 241 minor victims.
Investigators say Chansler used 135 known screen names, which are listed in a document linked to this article. Court documents say that Chansler transmitted threatening communications to hundreds of girls over the internet. Investigators say he pretended to be a friend, acquaintance, or admirer of the victims on social networking websites.
After he gained the victims’ trust, investigators say Chansler would invite victims to partiticpate in a live video chat. During the chat he would ask victims to expose themselves. Chansler then recorded the live video session. After Chansler recorded the victims. he demanded more graphic photos or videos and told the victims that if they did not comply, he would distribute the images and videos online, or send them to her family and friends.
After Chansler was arrested, he told detrectives that he targeted underage girls because adult women were “too smart” to fall for his scheme, according to the FBI. Investigators say they found hundreds of folders on Chansler’s computer labeled with the name of each victim. The folders contained personal information about the victims along with chat logs and videos or digital photos. Many of the chat logs contained threats that Chansler made to the victims.
The FBI says that in several of the videos, the victims are crying and pleading with Chansler. Investigators say Chansler had 80,000 images and videos in his possession. In August of 2014, Chansler pleaded guilty to nine counts of producing child pornography. He was sentenced to 105 years in federal prison.
