Anyone have a baby that wears HA? My little one is 2 months and we are in the process of making a decision. The audiologist talked to us about Oticon and one other, I can't remember the name  but will be forwarding us some information to go over so we can read about them.
But if there are any parents of babies wearing HAs I would love to hear your opinions, thanks! Baby is moderate but seems to be on the high end of moderate close to severe.

Likely the other one would have been Phonak -both are very good.

Thanks! Heard back from the audiologist - she recommended a Phonak for the baby, mentioning smaller size and being water proof. Us having no experience with this, we.wanted opinions.

Hope to hear from any parents of hoh babies that might be on this board as well.

One thing that's very important for babies and young children is that they get new moulds often - talk to your audiologist to make sure you know how to tell when new moulds might be needed.

Also - hearing aids come in a rainbow of colours, many of use have red, blue, pink, purple, green etc - they are the same price as "boring beige" but are a lot more fun and become an fun "accessory" instead of just a piece of medical equiptment. Ask the audiologist for a list of colours (or go to the phonak website, they have a colour chart) and consider picking something fun !!

Oh no beige for us! Aside from wanting a clear visual if something should fall off the baby and a color being good for that, we do agree it's more fun. The Phonak link our audiologist pointed us too has some pretty sleek looking choices. We talked about keeping tabs on his growing ears with regards to the molds too. I just can't wait to see how he does!

yeah and colors are a good visual in case the baby tries to do something with the hearing aids U don't wanna lose!

Molds come in a variety of colors too. glow in the dark were some of my favorite. Both brands are very well known, quality brands. Your left and right hands are the best hearing aid for babies. Hope you are learning, using ASL

Just wanted to recommend a corded pair of Ear Gear. They are pretty much essential for babies wearing hearing aids, so that they can't be lost!

Agreed - the ear gear is a must!

Also, you may want to initially go with the hypoallergenic (clear) ear moulds for the first few times, just to make sure that while they're adapting to having something in their ear, you can easily tell if the moulds are rubbing anywhere (without wondering if it might be an allergic reaction).

Great suggestions on hypoallergenic earmolds, and Ear Gear. Thanks much! soutthpaw - every day I teach myself a little more ASL, practice it on the baby and teach it to my older.daughter. I look forward to formal instruction in near future, hopefully.

I think its great that you're getting your baby a colored hearing aid! I completely wish that i could have a colored hearing aid as a kid, I would've totally LOVE my hearing aids! but i was stuck with beige colored aids up until i was in high school!! But right now my ear molds are clear but it has purple glitter in it :) the next time i'm getting ear molds, i might go for a different color, i'm not sure what kind but definitely something with purple since it's my favorite color.

But yeah like somebody recommended here, get ear gear for your baby so that way it won't get lost! my parents told me that when i was a little girl, i didn't like wearing my aid because i wasn't used to the sound, My mom told me that i hid my hearing aid under a chair one time and the dog almost ate it! luckily my mom found it! Plus, always remember to take the hearing aids off of your child before going swimming, I went swimming in a beach up in michigan years ago and i forgot to take out my hearing aid, my mom was so mad at me! :Ohno:

I wish Cochlear had more colors for their processors like phonak does now! what a bummer.
