Greetings to Alldeaf, I am glad I found you.

I have been in denial for some time. For years I worked in carpet fiber extrusion plant as purchasing manager. Most time in an out of my office or a quick check of inventory resulted in me being in a very loud production area. When they has a safety guy, he did a sound test and it tested 126db as 160 psi air was being released through a very tiny hole to tangle the yarn. I never realized how many times I was in that noise and got stopped and talked to without my hearing protection. The company closed in late 2009 and was forced to find other work.
The main thing I hear is a loud high pitched sound as if I were at work.

I have been able to find work as inside sales, but it requires mainly talking on the phone. Yesterday I had a meeting with supervision that told me they were getting complaints from co-workers and customers that I am not listening. I am heartbroken since I know why I am missing things but I didn't know it was affecting my job.

What do I do now?

Thanks

Welcome to Alldeaf.

Get a hearing test and see where you stand. See if a hearing aid would help.

:welcome: to AllDeaf Forum.

I think you should go to the ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) specialist to find out the problem with your hearing. After this, you might also go to audiologist to take the hearing test to find out how much audiogram you have lose on your hearing. After that, they will decide what kind of hearing aid you will be able to hear. That is it.

I hope that will work out somehow to get the services you need. So for now, just enjoy reading and posting here. See you around here.
