Does anyone have experience with the Exelias? Do you like them? What don't you like about them? Pros Cons...just exploring more options for a new aid possibly in the nearer future lol
thanks:)

oticon brand is also awesome, in my opinion I think they're better than phonak from my experience I've had phonak since age 3 to 15 and had oticon for trial period way better.

I wonder why dont you just trade it in for stronger Una there should be one with 70-75 db gain

I was thinking of that too, but my una doesn't have much to it. It's a basic blah aid obvs cuz it's entry level. Which did me fine a year ago when I got it. It seems to me though that I am getting more frusterated in situations and the una only has 4 channels so there isn't as much clarity with it as an aid with more channels. Also my loss is progressive so I wan't to get something that has more wiggle room and more programs and overall a bit better technology. I would also like to stick with phonak just because I have had good service for the aids as well as I have the smartlink sx fm system with integrated receiver, which was expensive, and the integrated receivers only go with phonak aids.

Oh ok do you think your hearing loss will end up in profound in future?

I'm not sure but in a 2 years it's changed twice and the more recent changes my audi told me that I don't have much room left on the una. My loss goes from 30dB to 50 dB with the lower frequencies being what I have more trouble with. And again even since I had my ha re-programmed and volume boosted I'm still having trouble hearing speech in some situations, like walking with ppl even one-on-one and cheerleading...if there is background noise basically..i am screwed lol

That's unfortunately an 'every hearing aid' problem.. Speaking personally, I'd think that with the price tag on the exelias, unless they have some feature you're in real need of (or you have some good financial resources / a rare insurance that covers HAs) you don't really need to buy them. Phonak has quite a few options with a LOT of features and gain between yours and the exelia.

As far as I remember, you've only had these HA's for a short while. They should definately have a longer life than this. I would suggest going back for another round of programming and looking seriously at your expectations of what hearing aids can do.

If you have really run out of the upper limits of gain on your model, the next HA you're looking for really needs to start it's fitting range around where your hearing loss is and extend quite a way's down.. you don't want to end up doing this process again! But again.. you've got a lot of options before the top of the line tech.

You will always have difficulty in noisy places, that's the nature of the beast with hearing loss. Will the higher end hearing aids help more in noise, yes. But it won't eliminate it all and you will still have SOME difficulty. If your maxing out the Una then talk to your audiologist about working with Phonak towards and upgrade. Where as you pay the difference, as opposed to buying a new hearing aid. Part of it depends upon your audiologists relationship with Phonak, the other part is if he/she is willing to do it.

I tried the Exelias 2 months ago and didn't like them at all. Never could get rid of the barrel sound and the speech understanding was negligible at best.

My audi already said I could upgrade and pay 1740 if i want to trial the exeila for 2 months. If i don't like it I can keep trying any phonak aids i want i just have to pay the difference or maybe get money back depending. My una gives me 1100 i believe towards another phonak aid and my receiver for my fm system I can still use:)

What ha would you recommend as an audi, SteveAud ?

What kind of loss do you have ridemiown?

I would wait 2 weeks. Phonak is in the process of launching 2 new aids. :D

OOOH really! Nice..what pleasant information! I hope its something I can benefit from! If its a hearing aid i prolly will anyways but thats great that they are producing new technology and so fast, the naida and exelia and audeo have not been out that long ..wow good for them! I am excited...any hints!???
