Ex-Marine got arrested for pick up the trash

I use to go around my condo and pick up the trash and one day a trustee came up to me and said " I am making a mess!" WTF ! I had a bag full litter people had throw on the ground and I am making a mess?? I stopped picking up the trash after that . It was horrible that cops threated the guy to keep his mouth shut!

No where in the article does it say that he was arrested for picking up trash. They stopped him because they were investigating rash of burglaries in the area. Maybe they thought he was getting rid of stolen goods around the trash.

Then they let him go. He mouths off in front of them and gets arrested. Nothing to do with the trash.

You seems not understand about expression in article.

"I'm guilty of picking up trash," Herder said.

They are investigating on action by MPD so there is obviously something is wrong with police department.

Yes, no surprise about city of Mobile.

Thanks to Tom Herder for serving our country.

Wow, strange story between Mr. Herder and the Mobile police officers. The officers did tell him to shut his mouth after releasing him when they find no arrest on his records. But then the dang bicycle man was shouting to the police when he make the announcement that you better watch out and you will get arrest. That is where the officers were probably upset to find that they thought it was Mr. Herder. He did not do that to the officers. So the officers had him cuff and hauled him to the police station. I am glad he had some supporters like the Mayor and the Chief of the police including the man who works for the garbage pick ups.

I detest any trash in my yard...work hard to keep it nice...kids are mainly the culprits....and whenever I see someone throwing trash down (potato chip bags, candy wrappers)...I'm on their case big time....

Yes, same here and I want our neighborhood looks nice, but garbage issue is rare, except for idiots litter outside.

Litter isn't good for earth.

When I lived in the city people would drive down the alleys and toss beer bottles over fences to hide them. I was sitting out back one night with my daughter and dog playing and all the sudden a pack of empty beer bottles come over my 6 foot wooden privacey fence, most broke but I quickly snatched up 2 as I ran out the gate, chucked em and nailed the cars back window..... bring it! They took off and never came back and it stopped after that, guess they knew they got caught but probly started going elsewhere to throw them out. I cleaned it up and hosed the patio down so my daughter or the dog wouldnt get cut. But in all, I hate people who litter, the city was bad where the northsiders came to the southside and trashed it just trying to make it feel like home to them...assholes. Dont have that problem here, but there are a few kids throwing trash out the windows by the new house since every major fastfood joint is within a couple blocks, but Im secluded and a ways off the main road so its just trash the wind brings along mostly.

exactly. nothing to do with the trash. he was "mistreated" and detained by officers because of his attitude and plus suspicion. he did not produce ID as requested by officers. obviously the officers had to assume the worst.

He was asked for an identification card, which he had left at his home a short distance away. He was then put up against the squad car and "roughly" patted down.

"I cooperated," Herder said. "I was a little aggravated (but) I never threatened them. I had a bit of an attitude, but I'm allowed to have an attitude as long as I cooperate absolutely, which I did."

Police then cuffed him and placed him into the back of the squad car while the officers ran his information, he said.

next time... always carry an ID with you.... and just cooperate with officers as politely as you can.

bad attitude = bad day. simple as that.

He deserves to be hung by his thumbs in the neighborhood square as a lesson to others.
