I recent spit out with little blood from eustachian tube. When I was in the hospital. It was bleeding a lot last Friday and Saturday. The blood stopped last Monday and yesterday. Now it's bleeding a little. Do you have experience with eustachian tube? I need your help. How it will stop the blood? Please help me.

It's normal for there to be some blood accumulation in the ear following surgery. This is dried up blood and nothing to be concerned about. When my CI surgeon checked my ears following both surgeries, he said I had blood in my ear canals, but that it wasn't anything I needed to worry about.

Thank you for helping. My implant's sit on bone feel not use it. It's still hurt because of sand on my bone make a shape to put implant sit on it. When it will get heal?

Pinky,

People heal at different rates. I started to feel like myself again after 7 days following my surgery. As for sleeping on my implanted ear, that took 2-3 weeks. I found it helpful to sleep in a recliner. By the time my activation day came, I couldn't feel any pain although I did have some numbness which I still have to date. However, it's not a problem for me since it's mild and not at all bothersome.

Umm...I see you just got your implant last Friday. I'm sorry you have some bleeding issues. Have you discuss this with your doctor?

While we have great opinions :D, we are not doctors and it is best to check with them.

To answer your question, the "depression" on your skull that holds your implant will take a little while to heal. I'm trying to remember how long my implant site remained sensitive. I think it was several weeks before I could sleep on that side. Fortunately for me, I generally sleep on my non-implant side (left). Even if you can sleep on that side, it is still healing so be mindful of that.

All part of the recovery. If anything I know you are excited about having CI and want to feel it, try and leave it alone until at switch on if you can otherwise if you keep touching it it would be sore and would prolong your recovery.

The site where they drill and made a bed for the internal part is like having broken bone, the bone needs at least 4 weeks to heal. If it's sore take some painkillers and like HA had done, sleep in recliner if you have one or in bed with loads of soft pillows to evelate your back/shoulder/head.

Try not to worry every one had different stages of recovery... If you are really concerned it's best to ask your doc rather than us we are no medical experts.

That's normal I had nose bleed for 3 days and spit up blood for 24 hours. When they do surgery the blood from drill bone, incision being cut, put implant under skin stratch the under skin cause blood go through hole to the inner ear so it drain down thru your eustachian tube down to nose or throat its fine.
When I had surgery I can't open my mouth at all but I finally fully can open mouth few days before activation (3 half weeks)! Only can drink through straw, tiny bite from soft food like pudding, my neck was stiff can't move my neck for 3 weeks, numb ear, weird taste in tongue, bruise on neck
Don't worry you're fine :)

Oh my gosh, I wish FDA need to look into those serious medical issues for young children who get their cochlear implants.

I am very disappoint in FDA for not information those stuffs to the parents before they make the decision for their Deaf or Hard of Hearing young children.

I only took a total of 4 painkillers after my CI surgery . I had a big depression since I chose the ceramic implant.. It takes a few weeks to get used to the implant and the incision to heal. Be patient and follow the doctor's instruction.. Good Luck and keep us informed

Don't panic... it's perfectly normal for CI operation or any ear surgery, I and i am sure alot of people had been told this during their pre op that there would be dried blood coughed up along with other side effects of the operation such as dizziness, tinnitus, stiff neck, nauesa blah blah.... It's because surgeon cannot clean the inside of our ear so it would go away by itself with body fluids.

Dried up blood isn't anything to worry about. There is no need for the FDA to take preventative measures since this is a normal occurrence following any kind of ear surgery.

Pinky,

If you are in pain (even the slightest pain), be sure to take your painkillers. You want to get on top of the pain (i.e. stop it) before it gets worse. Don't try to "tough it out" because if you do, the pain will become worse and be that much harder to manage. So many people with CIs try to act "gung-ho" by not taking their pain meds which I think is silly -- especially when they are there to help you feel better.

Topic off! It not about the children. It about me and other CI patient. If you're not CI user then don't post here please. So don't be panic! Geez

Pinky, I hope you get to feeling better! Take your painkillers !!! :)

Yes, I took a painkiller last night. It make me felt better. I did sleep on my right side. The pain is gone. I checked on spit again. The bleed is dried. Whew! I don't like my shit recliner. I did sleep on my mom's cozy recliner. It's helping me a lot. I wish I would trade the recliner from my mom's. LoL

Thank you guys again! :)

I can't really remember... I was only 4 and 7 when I had my surgery but I remember that I had bloody nose for couple of days from both surgeries and the Doc said that's normal.

I didnt have bleeding with my CI op but i guess it depends on the person. I hope it goes soon and you'll be less worried :D

Hugs
