We have an appointment with an ENT in about a week to see if my DS is hoh/deaf. Wondering if anyone has been through this process and what to expect there? What can be determined at this young age (4 months)? TIA!

Wish have advice.

Only have experience with two children and experience was not good with son. "Tester" get very frustrate with him because he little boy, around 1 years, and too curious.

He sit on my lap whole time and testing very different from my own visits to audiologist where they put me in sound booth with headphones and do different sounds to see if I hear.

She try different things to see if he respond for sound while he is on lap. Do not know how they do hearing test for 4 month old.

They will do OAE which is basically a sponge they stick in babies ears to test responses or echoes in their ears. Then they will probably want to do an ABR which is basically a big bucket of hooplah nonsense. They will probably do sleep deprived first which in my case we ended up doing like 4 because my little guy wouldn't sleep through it. Honestly the sedated ABR is the best you actually get real results instead of waiting around for the little guy to fall asleep. Be prepared to watch your baby get 100 things shoved in his ears. It isn't going to hurt them just keep that in mind.

Grrr. I kinda have issues with the medical model of care already.
