I have an ENT appointment for 1-14-09 reccomended by my new audi. My hearing loss is getting worse at both ends of the spectrum and I am looking forward to the appointment. My question is though what the ENT's role will be & where this might be leading? (still able to get along fair to midland with my HA's)
 
it's not clear from your post whether or not you will be seeing a standard ent or a ci surgeon. could you clarify?

if you're seeing a standard ent, they will look inside your ears and possibly do an mri to determine the cause of your hearing loss.

if you're seeing a ci surgeon, they will also look inside your ears and do a ct scan so they have a picture of your ear structure. if you're a ci candidate, they will also discuss with you what you can expect from surgery before and after.

Just standard I think

Just standard I think & had a clean MRI years ago when first diagnosed, but since my new audi is at the famous Cleveland Clinic they want to check everything again because of my age 35 (said something about they don't see these kind of changes until ages 70-80).

oh, okay. i think it's good that you're going for an appointment to check things out. good luck and let us know how everything goes.
 
I had to see an ENT surgeon before getting my latest hearing aids, it was just routine, only took about five minutes. He looked in my ears, used a sort of vacuum thing to clean them out and then said there was nothing they could do about my hearing loss except give me more powerful hearing aids.
 
i have to see an ent soon..they want me too since i had a sudden loss in my left..i refuse to do another mri or ct tho i hate the needles and the dye shit...last time i swear my body was on fire!

alicia,

when i had a ct scan for my first ci, i never had to have any needles or dyes. all the technician did was to have me lay back on a flat platform while the ct equipment took pictures of my ears.
