Elizabeth Taylor is letting friends and fans know that she is about to go to the hospital for heart surgery.

"Any prayers you happen to have lying around I would dearly appreciate. I'll let you know when it's all over. Love you, Elizabeth," the 77-year-old star wrote on her Twitter page Tuesday afternoon.

That message was preceded by two others:

• "Dear Friends, I would like to let you know before it gets in the papers that I am going into the hospital to have a procedure on my heart."

• "It's very new and involves repairing my leaky valve using a clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better."

Kelly Osbourne sent well wishes to Taylor over Twitter, writing, "Good luck. My mother I and praying and thinking of you!"

Comedian Sandra Bernhard also tweeted to Taylor saying, "You have weathered harsher storms dear lady, we send every variety of prayer from many lands may they carry you through!"

Movie Stars and Reality Stars prays for Elizabeth Taylor's recovery on heart operation but im not sure what types she had.

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor is to undergo a heart operation to repair a "leaky valve," the iconic Oscar-winning actress announced.

The 77-year-old English-born movie legend said in a post on micro-blogging site Twitter that she was to have a new procedure that would not involve open heart surgery.

"Dear Friends, I would like to let you know before it gets in the papers that I am going into the hospital to have a procedure on my heart," the actress tweeted.

"It's very new and involves repairing my leaky valve using a clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better.

"Any prayers you happen to have lying around I would dearly appreciate. I'll let you know when it's all over. Love you, Elizabeth."

Taylor's health has been the subject of intense speculation in recent years. In 1997 she underwent surgery to have a brain tumor removed and in 2006 she appeared on US television to deny rumours she had Alzheimer's.

In July 2008 she was hospitalized in Los Angeles but her spokesman denied reports that she close to death and had been placed on life support.

She is my favorite actress. I hope her surgery goes smooth.
 
Good luck, Liz!...She was and is a beautiful woman, superb actresses. Loved her in "Cleopatra" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof".

Her violet eyes are an oddity, beautiful!

I'm glad that her surgery went well.

I enjoyed her performances in National Velvet, Little Women,Father of the Bride, and Giant. Even her sad brief appearance in Jane Eyre.
 
E.T is pretty in many classic movie. My mom wore E.T perfume "White Diamond".

Sad to see her in wheelchair.
