Many pranks are just light-hearted attempts to poke fun at someone and maybe elicit a few laughs. But some of them are meant to be terrifying. One recent gag performed on the Brazilian hidden-camera show "Programa Silvio Santos" definitely falls into the scary category.

The clip, called "Ghost in the Elevator," shows unsuspecting people boarding an elevator. The lights start to flicker and then go off altogether. In the darkness, a creepy-looking little girl enters the elevator through a hidden door. When the lights come back on, the passengers can see the child, who seems to have appeared out of nowhere.

People's reactions are priceless. Several people attempt to not look at her or just ignore the girl, perhaps hoping she'll disappear. Others visibly recoil and make their way toward the far corners away from the little girl. Their sense of panic is noticeable, and when the girl lets out a scream, that's when the real fun begins.

Some bloggers have called the gag "the scariest elevator prank ever." One person praised the little girl's horror-movie-worthy performance, writing, "Her hair, that little doll, her clothes, and her screaming? Absolutely amazing."

The video was uploaded on November 25 and has attracted more than 1.6 million views so far -- and that number is steadily increasing.

This video will certainly make all who watch it a bit more cautious the next time they step into an elevator.

People walk into a room, I believe to 'take care' of someone who they believe is an injured elderly, they're doing this because they think they're getting payed. When the alarm rings, they were asked to remove the sheet off the patient's head.

I laughed so hard but the people who got tricked probably didnt think it was funny? I am sure that was a terrifying experience for them!

It is hilarious and scary at the same time. Hilarious because of the people's reactions, and scary because these adult children can't distinguish reality from fiction. Just to bullshit the prankster, I would have gotten on my knees and acted like it was a real ghost and asked it questions as to what happened and what information could I pass on to the people she was trying to reach.

Is exactly why many countries are doomed. There is no common sense among these people. They react like sheep, frightened at anything they don't understand rather than stopping to understand and stand guard against like a sheepdog. There are too few sheepdogs in a population of sheep.

I mean, who in their right minds would allow something like this to "transpire" in a place. Wow, these people have no grip on reality.

If caught off guard like that, I would freak out. Doesnt make me as someone who has lost in touch with reality. :roll:

:laugh2:...you bet, Stein....probably get their arse blowed off! Seen many signs on doors saying...."Never mind the dog....beware of the owner"...with a Smith & Wesson pix....Haven't seen any door-to-door salesmen in years!....:giggle:...seems the Jevohah Witnesses' have given up too!

wha? you do realize that this prank is in Brazil? Brazil is very superstitious on ghost thing. South America is one big scary place. It's full of omens, ghosts, etc. You don't mess with Aztec/Mayan/Montezuma :Ohno:

Africa, Haiti, Jamaica, and Cuban are much more frightened of snakes than anybody else. They truly really believe it's from evil spirit.

and in America - many buildings do not have #13. It's a bad luck number.

I am a scared sheep, then. If this prank happened to me I would have died of a heart attack while screaming out to Jesus to save me. It's funny to see people get scared on video, but OMG I cannot handle ghosts AT ALL.
