It is very important, because kids hear a lot of good and bad information from their friends, from watching TV, from anyone outside of the family, It's important to keep all communications open, so they can come to you and be honest with you with every question they may have to ask you, or feel that they can trust you with all they have, If you going to yell, or shout, or preach them, they're will listen to their friends, or someone else outside of the family.

Refrain that question please.....You meant opposite sex?

How do you start the effective communication with hearing/ deaf babies?

I have two hearing children so when they were babies, I communicate by using my voice, ever since the day they were born, I speak to them, when they cried, I would say along a line of, "Awww what's the matter? You're hungry?" When they have no clue what the heck I'm saying when they get a bottle they get the drift, hungry means it's bottle time. :giggle:

ONG, when's the deadline? I don't mean the deadline to turn in your paper or presentation; I mean deadline for posting in here that you can use?

I started out ASL with no voices with my two hearing daughters.. It was totally successful for their own accomplishment in their Education and English written. They used a lot of receptive eyes and the way the brain works that they can focus on it without any sounds to be interfere. They were in advanced classes and earned honor rolls. I m proud of myself to spend a lot of time with them since they were babies.

ASL is the best thing I ever had with my chldren. I m so grateful to have ASL in my life that I have learned so much. We communiate very well since they were four to six months old. ;)

cheri... yes opposite sex.

tousi... its deadline for 3rd week of april or end of april. i'm not sure exactly when but our first time meeting is tomorrow.

I am just wondering who has experiences with babies if some of you have no voices like deaf adults with hearing child, how did your babies ( kids) understood you by the effective communication?

ok... for people who have experiences with children or had child development major.

what sources ( good books, informations on internet or whatever) is good to be find for effective communication for parents & child relationship.

so I could work on it and narrow it down.

My friend who is deaf and is a mother of two hearing children, She cannot speak, but she use ASL with her girls when they were babies. They are so cute when they sign, I cannot believe how fast those girls sign. ;) I've heard that her daughters did had some diffcult with speech, they did enrolled in speech programs at their school, since the mother cannot speak.
