If you had to choose, which natural disaster would you rather have happen in your area?

whoa.... a very hard question.... this game is fun!! I'd pick tornado because among other disasters listed above - you have a very high chance of survivability in tornado. All you have to do is bunker down and wait it out.

earthquake... you're screwed. no place is safe
volcano.... no place is safe
hurricane.... you'll drown
tsunami... well shit lol

yuppie i agreed with jiro

you can escape from tornado but others, u cant >.<

so i vote tornado

What he said.

But tornadoes are so predictable, you don't know where will tornado touchdown the land exactly.

I did escaped from hurricane 4 times, it's nothing wrong and lots of fun!!!!

I do understand what happened in New Orleans because people don't understand that New Orleans is tooooo lower land of sea level, if I was in New Orleans then good question which I never been experience but in Florida or Texas or Nova Scotia ... I don't have any problem and I can escaped it

once time hurricane did hit Toronto, sound like weird? :laugh2:

Tornado is not so bad like the others. My area experienced the volanco, but last time it erupted, and kill nothing while the eruption before the lastest killed over 70 people. Volanco can be dangerous, but can be avoided if are in the right place.

Well, with hurricanes, you have plenty of time to pack up and get the hell out of the area before it hits. Even up to a week. With tornadoes you only have 30 seconds or even less to get your ass down to the basement or cellar, and none if you are deaf and cannot hear the siren warning and have been sleeping...then you are FUCKED! Earthquakes, NO warning, and you are right, nowhere is safe! Same goes for volcanoes! And Tsunamis as well if you live over in Asia (I don't think I've ever heard of Tsunamis in either US coasts.

Yeah, I was in Florida right before Andrew hit....we were supposed to stay in Florida for about a month....two weeks into our vacation, there were news warnings about Hurricane Andrew coming to hit Florida, and we stayed there for another week and then we raced out of Florida and made it to Tennessee by the time Andrew hit. I was about 11 years old at the time.

Oh, yeah, ever heard of 1964 Alaskan Tsunamis? Very bad one. Enough to turn a big cargo ship upside down.

A hurricane hitting Toronto....that's impossible. Toronto ain't anywhere near the ocean. Unless I am mistaken, hurricanes will only hit the ocean/gulf coasts of different countries. (In some countries, hurricanes are called cyclones, dunno why, they are the same, I believe).

oh I wasn't thinking of evacuation. I thought you were asking what disaster you prefer when you're in disaster. I prefer tornado if i'm in middle of disaster and Well shit - yea I'll prefer hurricane under normal circumstance since it's predictable and you have plenty of time to evacuate.

Nope...I'm only 28, so I've never heard of that. I wasn't even around when it happened. I'll have to research that.

EDIT: I read up on this and...wow!

where were those 4 hurricanes?

August 24 1992 in Miami, Florida by Hurricane Andrew
September 27 2003 in Halifax, Nova Scotia by Hurricane Juan
August 13 2004 in Orlando, Florida by Hurricane Charley
October 23 2005 in Jupiter, Florida by Hurricane Wilma

Lucia's basically right about hurricanes and evacuations; although, I don't know if I'd say you had an entire week to evacuate. Where I live, they usually issue mandatory evacuations for category 3 or greater. Voluntary evacuations occur for Cat 1 and Cat 2 hurricanes. We usually have about 48 hrs to pack up our necessities and get out of dodge.

Our evacuations go something like this:

Tropical storm warnings go up first (usually). At this time, they usually will call for a mandatory evacuation of all visitors and non residents. That usually takes a day. Once a hurricane watch goes up, they will begin a staged evacuation for residents. This also can take a day to complete. We also are pretty much all bridges down here that makes up a single road that goes in and out of where I live. Once the winds get above 25 miles an hr, they lock down all the bridges.

This is important for any fishermen, because once we're in lockdown, the seamen aren't able to get their boats dry docked and tied. We're pretty efficient, but it does require a little time. But, I honestly think I would rather be dealing with a hurricane than any of the above disasters named.

I will stick with hurricanes since I have been thru it so many times in my life. I grew up on Cape Cod, Mass.

goddamn.... must be hell of experience!

i think it's better to think of this game in worst case scenario. Think of those disasters listed above at their worst, devastating level. Which one you rather be in? I think I will survive better in tornado than rest. Like I said - just bunker down and wait it out. hopefully a junk won't block my escape door in.

yes, bad experienced then I did not go to Florida since 2005 because I am not American Citizen, I am 100% Canadian Citizen and I do not want get any hurt because I do not have Insurance for U.S. hospital, I did not think about it but 3 times happened in Florida, make me think about "where I can find one way back to Canada?", my familys tried take us get out of Florida and make it without plane, we have to drive a rent car and try go to north and I know I did escaped 4 times is too easy but inside my feeling, not really because I don't live there and I just there for vacation and visitor with my familys.
