Dorothy M. “DeeCee” Cronin of Winthrop, a caregiver, died Monday at Massachusetts General Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 73.
Born and raised in Cambridge, she had lived in Arlington before moving to Winthrop 10 years ago.
She graduated from Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph and received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Gallaudet University for the Deaf in Washington, D.C., in 1988.
Ms. Cronin worked at the New England Confectionary Co. and Polaroid Corp. in Cambridge.
After college, she began working with the North Shore Association for Retarded Citizens as a caregiver for multiply handicapped, deaf clients. She retired eight years ago when her health began to decline.
An avid reader, Ms. Cronin also loved crossword puzzles and was a dedicated fan of the New England Patriots [team stats] and Boston Red Sox [team stats].
Ms. Cronin is survived by her brother, John of East Boston;, and three nephews and a grandniece.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
