Ahh the memories of the '80's movies era!

I was googling for some information on some actors and saw some '80's movies that made me go back down the memories of watching really great movies of that time...such as 'Pretty in Pink', 'The Breakfast Club', 'St Elmo's Fire', 'The Outsiders' 'Terms of Endearments' 'Platoon', etc!

Don't y'all miss that??? Sure today's movies are good...but a lot of them have come across as pointless -- only a selected few do come out GOOD such as 'Saving Private Ryan', ....several others but cannot recall them at the moment. (It's currently 3am in the morning for me... Tsk tsk on me..I should be in bed! ;) )

I forgot to add one more thing...if any of you are interested in reviewing some of the '80's movies you miss seeing...etc. Here's the linkie to go to Fast Rewind

Enjoy! :ily:

Heh. I do enjoy some of these 80's flicks. :thumb: But I've noticed that some of them aren't closed caption and the more modern flicks are closed caption than before. Not fair.

That's true, but nowadays alot of the companies such as Twentieth Century Fox, Paramount...etc...all are converting old films from video onto DVD, so mainly they have subtitles by now. :) 'The Thing' wasn't captioned when I first saw it in the early '80's -- a horror movie...but I found one on DVD with subtitles last year! :)

Same for 'The Parent Trap' (original in the '60's with Hayley Mills) is subtitled on DVD ;)

Only limited to DVD ... so it's still not fair, because I don't watch movies on DVD yet. I still use VHS flicks.

Ahh...that's harder. I was stuck with VHS during my first year of living here in Australia -- Hubby and I decided to get a DVD player after a year of seeing me being frustrated and not being able to enjoy VHS videos as alot weren't captioned. Only 15% of tv shows, movies, vhs were captioned here in 1998...but nowadays, it's improved to about 45%...still a ways to go.

I was a child of the 80s, grew up watching so many 80s movies. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is my favorite 80s movie since first time I ever saw this.

Porky's rocked for a '82 movie set in the 1950's

Other fave '80's movies for me are:

Back to the Future
Aliens
The Running Man
Bachelor Party
The Natural (even though its set in the 1930's)

Same here..I have the Back to the Future trilogy, Indiana Jones Trilogy, Alien Trilogy, and I hope to get the Star Wars Trilogy soon...excluding the newest Star Wars as they're not quite as good as the original 3. :)

Total Recall was good! Ohhhhhhhh! Bachelor Party! I will never forget Tom Hanks as Rick Gasco who has a bachelor party -- heheh...loved the stripper club with the girls getting that bloke's dick in a hot dog bun!

Did anyone remmy Weekend with Briene, something like that? It's about two college party guys and one dead guy hanging around the beach. I don't recalled it much.

should be "weekend with Bernie" as opposed to "summer with Bernie" pardon my mistake LOL

Hehe, I love the Indiana Jones trilogy, Star Wars (all 5 of em) I have 2 on DVD yay! Back to the Future I want as well.... I really wish Gone With The Wind was subtitled on DVD, but fortunately I have it taped on VHS, and I have some VHS videos subtitled.

Some old 80s movies still aren't subtitled, but I hope they'll make sure ALL of the movies are subtitled, and not just the new ones.

Most people identify with the forms of entertainment (music, movies, television shows, fashion) of their teenage and formative adult years. That's why the aging generations of today grow nostalgic of the events during their own formative years, become misty-eyed and fond of the past, and feel alienated with current versions.

"Oh, them good ol' days!" :D

Weekend with Bernie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was HYSTERICAL with Andrew McCarthey in it! :) I thought he was hot at the time! ;P It was funny trying to keep people believing that their boss was still alive and throwing the party as normal. :P

It really cracked me up big time!
