I work on the phone and even with my hearing aids my ears get so tired sometimes and I wonder if it is just me or is this a common thing?

you're concentrating on hearing and making sense of the person on the other end of the phone, so that could definitely be a factor. Even with hearing aids, concentrating on hearing around you.

If one has recurring- ear problems- hearing on a regular phone, switch to a VCO TTY. You can also use TEXT if the other party's phone has this feature.

aside: I use a UltraTec 1140 VCO/TEXT phone since 1996. Notwithstanding I have a Cochlear Implant which doesn't seem to "work" picking other parties' voice. I understand from Sunnybrook/Cochlear Implants/Toronto one out of two persons have similar "problem". For me-just continue using my TTY.

I get a major headache if I use the phone too much--concentrating on what people are saying. I avoid the phone as much as possible.

Practice more in a non-business environment, HoH people are so used to straining to hear they still strain when they can hear better.

You are using underpowered hearing aids, you will strain more to hear. When you get more powerful hearing aids, you won't be straining as much.

Does the HA's have a tele-coil? That can make a big difference, since the magnet in the HA will adjust to a setting specifically for the phone while on it. If the HA has a tele-coil and it doesn't switch because the magnet is too weak, your audiologist can give you a special magnet to attach to the receiver to switch the tele-coil over to that mode.
If all else, request an amplified phone at work, its an ADA requirement to accommodate you.

I get a headache whenever I have call for tech support , I find it very hard to talk to a person with an accent for a long time, so I end up not calling for help.

The audi shouldn't have to give it to you. it should be included with the box and accessories :P
