i have been reading alot of the CI threads. Everyone says how wonderful they are. This is a huge issue for me. Will CI surgery help the loud brutal noises I hear 24/7. Has anyone had this happen. I really need some input on this. This will be a deal breaker for me if the noise is still there. I would be so dissapointed. Please help if you can. My decision date is approaching fast:hmm:

Are you talking about Tinnitus?

Since I had a traumatic hearing loss going from perfect hearing one day and total loss the next due to a serious illness. The doctord have not seen a parient like me who lost their hearing like mine. I had brain swelling and was in the hospital for a month. The loud noises started right away. Car alarms in my ears, loud roaring, bong, bong, bong, chinese radio station and an auctioneer. It never stops there 24/7. So has anyone had this and been helped with CI surgery. Pleasee answer if you have, my decesion day is approaching.

You have a very unique medical condition, it sounds as if the noises you are hearing are originating from your brain, not from your ears. I don't see how a CI would help, as it stimulates the nerve endings in your cochlea, which is going to produce more sounds...unless your doctor thinks that by suppressing your existing cilia, your condition may change.

And, none of us here are qualified to answer your question. Only your doctors can do that.

Good luck with the decisions, keep us informed.

Your condition may be a little different but the way you describe it to do sound like it's a tinnitus but do you sleep when the louds in your head still runs? if so it sounds like its a tinnitus.

my hub has the tinnitus since he was a toddler, still to the day and even when he got a CI and still have a tinnitus.

Unfortunately having a Cochlear Implant doesn't solve all "hearing problems". Angel only your doctors can answer in your specific case what to expect with an Implant.

As mentioned above Tinnitus is a "tough problem" to deal with. Fortunately, I don't have this problem-so far after almost 5 years of using my Implant.

Much success Angel is getting very direct answers to every hearing problem you have.
