Doctor tests positive for Ebola in NYC

I was going to post this and forgot . It find it very disturbing that doctor was out in public . I thought CDC set up new guidelines so people would be put in isolation if they came from parts of Africa that had Ebola . We're so not ready to deal with this.

Sure hope the luck holds out and this dr recovers. So far they have kept all the doctors who returned to this country alive. We need a vaccine for this "quick like". I heard they are working on one, don't know when it will be ready.

This virus is serious and frightening stuff for those African countries. I feel so sorry for them.

Recently I went to a physical therapy at Kaiser. I was asked if I have traveled to Africa or I took care of anyone who has Ebola. I said no to both questions. It's getting very serious since Kaiser asks every patient those questions at check-in.

I got an email from Kaiser about Ebola yesterday.

I think every person coming from the Ebola stricken countries from Africa should be quarrantied automatically for 21 days upon arrival just to be safe.

these kind people go out to these countries either get appalling disease or kidnapped and killed and all they doing is try make world better place...
if we been to Africa within 6month not allowed donate blood maybe that should be quarantined period..obviously somethings germinate slowly

Does anyone see it that it's a problem because the loan is been around for a really long time and they still haven't figured out a treatment for this sentence stone 21st-century and we can't even handle the problem.

Another thing I notice is that wouldn't it be more safer and cost-efficient to not move the patients that have ebola from state to state and risking contaminating other states that they pass-through or other people they have to involve with transportation versus just taking the doctors that can treat it to the patient.

The man that died from ebola recently here went into the emergency room and told them that he had just came from West Africa. They turned him away saying that he has the flu now his family is in corentine and there's a risk of other children in schools they came in contact with his children but all of a sudden the treatment that they did have, apparently was all used on the first doctor that came back. Why use the very last of the treatment that we obviously need one person without being able to replicate the treatment.

To me none of it nor actions make any since. This is something that should had already been an organized containment because we known for years West Africa has a high case of ebola. So when people came back they should be debriefed and tested just like coming back from a deployment. So am I the only one that finds all of this is weird.

The doctor did not quarantined himself when he got back home and he knew he could be at risk of having Ebola. I feel this is a crime , the doctor going out in public and exposing everyone to a deadly disease . I heard on the news people in NY want to know why the out was out in public.

I agree with that but there probably is a fine line of keep in keeping a person in the facility for treatment and assuming that they need to be treated with no evidence it kind of goes against your human rights. For example you can't be detained by police without being arrested if you're just being there for questioning you have the right to leave and can't be kept without a charge.

If when these people come from these countries and they're not showing any signs or symptoms of any kind of disease then they have to let them go without proof that they do contain a disease even if it's lying dormant or are they just have a slow metabolism so the "activation" of the disease might not of taken effect. Two people could have caught pneumonia at the exact same time but depending on the metabolism, weight, health then they might not show symptoms as fast as the person who weighs less than or not in good health.

Now what I do think they should do is before they leave there should have been some kind of vaccinations and medications to take prior to them leaving when they get back they need to have a thorough screening and get more vaccinations when they come back. In the military you get a vaccine for smallpox and you take medicine before you leave so When you go there you don't contract anything and when you come back you get a thorough screening to make sure you didn't bring anything back here.

Quarantining someone for 21 days without any proof of contamination isn't realistic. If I was to walk into emergency room right now and say I have leopards disease or smallpox if they don't see anything on me they're going to turn me away and tell me that they cannot help me until they see some symptoms first and by then I will could've infected 10-20 people.

But he should've been more careful and separated himself knowing that he was around the affected area.

When I was in high school on man was overseas and came back and felt fine and then all the sudden a week later he was sick with TB and not knowing that he affected his daughter and his son that went to school with me and they effective three other people. Altogether five students and two people died and we weren't allowed back in school until we all were tested for tuberculosis.

IMO, if you have traveled to West Africa or have contacted with Ebola victims, please be honest and let us know, otherwise you are a murderer. No difference from AIDS.

It reminds me of my cat who almost contacted with BAT but my kitty didnt have rabies. I still had to report to VET and then The health dept made me to put her in the quarartine for 6 mos for making sure shes fine.. I dont want her to spread out to me and my family and other cats. so no matter what if you have been somewhere in other country and still need to report to hospital. If you learn more about others who got sick.. unfortunately.

I am talking about the doctor quarantined himself , he should of had the common sense to had this like Dr. Nancy Snyderman of Nightly news did, she was in Africa covering this story and one of her cameraman
got Ebola and she and her crew quarantined themselves for 21 days .

Dr. Snyderman said she would observe a 21-day quarantine but she did not. She was caught going out for soup.

I brought my dog to the vet b/c was keep itching himself and I wanted to made sure he was OK to bring to doggies playgroup and grooming . I did not want my dog to spread anything around . He only had dry skin was OK. It would be nice if other pet owners and people did the same .

good thing I wasn't here when it happened as I was relaxing in Dominican Republic. I landed last night at JFK airport and the Global Security check-out computer asked if I am showing any Ebola symptoms or if I have had any contact with Ebola patients.
