I know how you feel there AquaMaiden 
I've had my share of that in the past too at the doctor's office or at a vet hospital....They always make an excuess and say ' Well , I own a small business and we don't make that much $$ to pay for an interpreter for an hour and since your appt only last within 20 to 30 mins, I feel it's a waste of money '....Whenever I hear this excuess, I tell them about the ADA laws and leave and find another hospital or vet that will make me get an interpreter or somewhere that I could understand what the doctors are saying....It works for me 
They're the one who going to lose us and now how are they going to make any money? heh
