cute facial expression or body language? Sometimes they couldn't find the right sign then they made up how to sign to tell me what was going on. I tried so hard not to laugh when my boy was upset telling me with his (ASL) facial expression whatever my girl did it to him? My kids' facial expressions are more strong than their friends at school. I wonder how teachers or other kids think of my kids' facial expressions. Hope it does not cause other kids or teachers to misunderstand why my kids' behaviors like this. Did it happen to you with your hearing kids? it's so new to me each time i see my kids learn something new to add up their facial expressions. :eek3:

My kids are grown but I notice they are good a facial expression. I notice my younger daughter with her tao kids uses much expression to the children even though they are all hearing.

awesome! i didnt think of grandkids that would do the same thing. Id love that!!

One time, i was in bathroom fixing my hair. My boy came into and made fun of me by his facial expression and body language such as he copied how i acted or fix my hair that got me laughing real hard. lol.

he loves to put too much drama on his facial expression.

So I have IGNORE it. In a way, it is kinda funny watching him do that, but I know If I give him the attention, it would make it worst.

Since we are a mainly oral family, my 3 hearing boys always "mouth" their words so it's easier to undy....(we do sign at times, too)....the funny thing is, whenever my boys are talking to other hearies, they subconsciously "mouth" their words too! I've watched them with their friends, and at times it gets a little hilarious!.....they also motion with their hands when describing something....creatures of habit, I guess!

lighthouse77... true. i have notice that my kids do that when they think they would get my attention. cute. in a while they know that i am serious about it. They just moved on with something else. ha

rockinrobin.. thats so funny. Id love to see my kids doing that too.

My son uses the appropriate ASL expressions and people think he is deaf. :)

LOL. That is funny how it is. I have three hearing children. They are smart than people thought! Everyone always complained that my children REFUSE to use their voice while talking to me and they do use expression too. I think it is awsome! But POOR my husband!!! My husband is hearing. He always says KIDS! USE YOUR VOICE! I am sitting right here and trying to find out what are you guys saying to your mom!!! LOL. I grew up as oral not sign language but I know how to use sign language. I just dont use it because I am stuck with hearing people around here! There is NO deaf people around here where I live!

Same here for the most part. I am just learning ASL. When I lived in East St. Louis, there were no deaf groups close enough. St. Louis was 40 miles away and that was too far to drive for a deaf social at 8pm. Not with the drivers that St. Louis has.

My hearing baby is not very verbal but he is very expressive!

oh wait.... it's a dog :aw:

You have access to my FB photo album ;) so you'll quickly notice my hobby which is capturing my son's hilarious facial expressions. He makes his mama proud, I am known to be animated when hyper... sleep deprived... and caffeinated. In other words, when I breathe :)
