Do you tithe?

I tithe 10% but lately I have noticed that my church is now posting what and how much people tithe.

There has been discussion about how to encourage people to tithe 10% of their income to the church.

Myself I think it is a personal choice if one wants to tithe the full 10%, less--depending on bills, or more than 10% but to post what and how much people tithe is un-Christian like.

Anyone have issues with their church in regards to tithing?
 
Excuse my ignorance what is "tithe"? :P
 
Malachi 3: 6-12

6 For I [am] the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept [them]. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Ye [are] cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, [even] this whole nation.

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].

I tithe to my church general fund, and also give to missions, ministries, and other needs at church.

I've never heard of publishing members' giving. That's a total shock to me. All our giving is totally secret except to the church accountant. He has to keep records for tax reasons. But no one else is allowed to know what people give, not even the pastor. He said he doesn't want to know who gives how much.

Thanks for your response Reba.

I am just wondering why the publishing of one's tithing report to the entire congregation.

I'm thinking of switching churches.....

I'm in the process in finding a church that provides interpreter, who is it for you to judge me, when you don't know what you are talking about. Please keep your judgment to urself.

You not only one, I not member church yet. I am visiting church and not decide become member yet. Because I had bad experience other former members. Wait God give me right one church but no any body perfect church. I like interpreter only more than deaf churches. I don't like deaf church since lot problem and not know how good together team nothing!!
 
I used do that tithe and provide speak about it. I should start do that again.
 
The only Church I recall that prints the names of givers and how much they gave is the Catholic Church.

Our local church used to print weekly newsletters that showed how much money was received and how much was promised from people. And, each week, the amount received was far less than promised.

Our priest eventually told people how much people should give based on their income, which upset people. So, a lot of people stopped going to church, because people complained that the church only cares about money. The church has closed down today.

I understand how that goes. I'm a long time guest of a church I go to... I haven't became a member of that church yet and quite frankly, I haven't planned to. I love going to church there, most of people are friendly and such. Anyways, back to the point...

twice in my few years of attending this church, the Elders had discussed to us about how much we ought to be giving... now its upped to 20% which I find to be silly, but I'd understand that it is to pay for the building. (They just moved from old building and built this new church building which is bigger and has more techolongy access) but with my being guest, I give what I can... the Elders would discuss about the budget at times... have it as a sermon once or twice to discuss the issues of budget. They were recieving less than promised which is why I believe they upped it to 20% which I find it silly imo.

Even if I became a member, I'm not planning on making a promises that I cannot keep! I get irriated when budget issues are bought up. Anybody else has similiar experience?

Tithe goes to Church for needs, support for Ministry etc.. just like my church.

Well, Bible said very clearly about Tithe 10%...I'll find a verse for you. :)

We been tithe our church since 1998, We have been blessed for things what God provided for us what we needs.

The bible didn't tell you what the name of church. The church is nothing! CHURCH IS NOTHING! Church is our body and on earth we see the Church drive by is temple of body where to rejoin.

About the bad former member, mean will have bad moment see them again into heaven? It doesn't make sense.

Another other person post "WTF" if person didn't point to join yet church even still believe "God". Please take easy on her and no point being harsh.

This form or post is not 100 social who commit to GOD life because I have read several response who like " I have study and deeply" is total turn me off because it no expand to explaining like Mormon explained from JKV as person told me. Sudden another christian judged to Mormon. Whoa... whoa.. even various south west north whatever baptist believe the Jesus is their primary service.

What is matter to know that we know who Jesus is important and know that face truth.

I have compare several bible or practice has show interesting.

Just keep remind, there are many wide are easy to fell that got trap lead to hell.

Again; please don't say "I know and study too deeppy, O my..." it so drama that I think because it not telling me that "understand" or "understood" or the bible say so.. mmmm shame on you. it complete not team...

I am sorry to throw out like that because .... what the problem on Earth.. (mummble)
