Do frosted or clear ear molds last longer then color?

My title says it all....do frosted or clear ear molds last longer then colored molds or is there a material that last longer suitable for severe to profound?

Been reading thru others posts and LoveBlue mentioned that some colors(including clear) last longer. Does anyone know which ones they are?
 
hypoallergenic earmolds lasts alot longer (I had the rainbow sparkled earmolds when I was little and I wore them in the summertime with the Siemens one time until I noticed the earmolds fell apart LOL!!!
 
I've only ever had clear because no audiologist has ever asked if I wanted a color;the answer is YES- clear with blue sparkles!
But my earmolds have each lasted a few years as an adult.
 
I've always had clear ear molds and never been asked if I wanted anything else. I always debate about asking because I get embarrased to change the batteries in public. The wax on the ear mold just makes me cringe when I have to take them off with people around and it'd probably be less noticable if they were a colored mold instead of clear, but I don't know. Do they cause a reaction in some people?

You should do what I do; take the earmold with wax stains and wave them in people's face.

(No, I don't really do that.) ;)

LoveBlue said a while back get blue sparkes or save the $$ and get the ones that last longer.

My clear molds will last 12 months but my colored ones last 7 months before I start getting feedback. Would love to get a couple of years:/
 
How often do you get new ear molds?

For as long as I've had hearing aids, I've gotten new ones every few years, sometimes only when I get new hearing aids. So sometimes I've had ear molds for 5 or 6 years.
 
it's recommended to get a new one every year but that depends. if it's getting hard or your HA is whistling a lot, time for new one.

Interesting, didn't know that. Mine always seem to whistle.
 
I've never had colored ear molds. The only kind I've ever used were clear or semi-clear. I actually went 5 1/2 years on my recent ear mold before getting a new one. Never had problems with it. :)

yea because the mold gets harder and does not "stick" to ear skin so it whistles. if the money's tight... the poor man's solution is to use a bit of vaseline on mold.

wow I'm impressed lol. think about how much money you've saved.

the condition of ear mold largely depends on environment and activity. if clear/semi-clear mold turns into yucky yellow or "solid".... that's usually when it's time to change. you can increase ear mold's life span by using HA dehumidifier - same for tube, battery, and HA.

if you're a very active person or sweats a lot, tube is usually replaced every month. it sux. I've been putting it off and now my tube's hard as a rock :mad2:

Then it cracks and the aids are squealing all over the place; if you can even manage to keep using them. :(

I got a few tubes from my audiologist once so I could replace them myself instead of going in all the time, but then he stopped going that. (probably realized if I didn't visit the office, it wasn't billable.) ;)

But I can replace them myself, if I have a source for tubes that I can buy myself. Trouble is, I have no idea where to buy them. Or even how to determine what size tubes to order.

Hahaha... yeah.

It's the tube that I have replaced every year or so. The ear mold did get a bit yellowish as it got older... but I always did my best to clean it whenever I could.

Yes, it got harder but it was never really a problem for me as I could still hear everything well and never really had feedback problems.

I also use Dri-Aid for my hearing aid.

you can go to any audiologist office and buy it there. beware of rip-off price :mad2:
