South California – An investigation into organized dog fighting resulted in the arrests of 8 individuals including Earl Simmons, better known by stage name as rapper DMX.

According to authorities, 102 pit bulls from which 39 were still puppies were seized from the rapper’s home by an animal control unit. Authorities tell us the dogs were so malnourished their ribs were sticking out and others had bad wounds that required emergency care. The lifeless bodies of 7 dogs were also found on the property.

Federal state and local officials announced the arrests on Friday. Around $400,000 in cash that investigators believe was tied to illegal gambling on dog fights was also seized.

DMX is charged on counts of conspiring to promote and sponsor dog fights, and with conducting an illegal gambling business. Let’s not forget that this isn’t DMX’s first arrest on a crime of this nature. Back in May 2008, DMX was arrested on 7 counts of animal cruelty and four felony drug possession charges. He also faced another animal cruelty charge in 1999 which was later dismissed after the rapper agreed to accept responsibility and record public service announcements for an animal rights group. If found guilty on all charges, his sentence could go up to life in prison knowing the rapper’s heavy criminal background.

Rapper DMX Arrested…Again!

Bad boy rapper DMX (pictured) was arrested, yet again, after he was caught driving without a license in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The controversial hip-hop star, who had his 5-month-old daughter in the back seat, was booked for the traffic offense early Wednesday morning, reports FOX Carolina.

According to DMX, after an officer targeted him at a gas station, the policeman trailed him for a short distance then suddenly turned on his siren, signaling for him to pull over. He was then promptly arrested at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.

DMX, whose actual name is Earl Simmons, reportedly went before a judge at around 6 a.m., EST, paid a hefty fine, and was released. DMX later reportedly complained, “…I could have just paid the money right there on the spot,” DMX told FOX Carolina. “Basically it was just five hours wasted for nothing. I don’t have a court date or a court appearance.”

According to a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy, who was also at the gas station, recognized the gruff performer. After running a check on DMX, the officer discovered that he had been issued summonses for driving without a license in two towns within Spartanburg County. When the officer realized that DMX only had a state ID and not a driver’s license, he decided to pull him over for the offense. The vehicle that DMX was driving was handed over to an unidentified passenger who had a valid driver’s license.

DMX’s crimes have run the gamut, from countless drug charges to rape to traffic offenses to a stabbing and even animal cruelty. Despite the fact that DMX has been incarcerated every year of his life since 1999, with the exclusion of last year, he is the only hip-hop artist in history to have five straight albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, including two in one year.

And even though the 42-year-old has also sold more than 21 million albums worldwide, his legal woes have mounted and his fan base has dwindled.
