Dispelling the Myths and Celebrating the Strengths of Schools for the Deaf

Interesting article.

I went to their website and looked at their Board of Directors. I know several of those names. I think a couple I even knew from college.

Good article, Calvin. That is what I wanted to go into the Deaf School years ago. I was not happy in the mainstream schools. I was very upset and mad at the mainstream schools for not providing ASL and to get ASL interpreters including be able to understand each other as Deaf kids instead of deaf oral kids. :ugh:

I wish I had that article 4 years ago to show those audists how wrong they were about Deaf schools.

The article is shown as:
By Jane Mulholland, Washington School
for the Deaf Superintendent
Conference of Educational Administrators
of Schools and Programs for the Deaf

I think one from someone directly involved at at school for the deaf would have more weight in reaching the audist group.

Unfortunatly they wouldn't listen. They have a hate on or distorted thinking when it comes to deaf stuff...There are great parents who are "OMG....my kid is orally skilled but can still benifit from Deaf Schools/programs/being fluent in ASL!" But the audists you are talking about even if Deaf schools consistantly turned out Harvard level thinkers, they would STILL bash them and they'd still bash ASL and Deaf culture......

You got a point...still it would have been fun! I am bad!

Still you know what's fun? Seeing that OTHER people (in another online forum) think that those audists are REALLY bad...It wasn't just us being "radical deafies"
