Dining room table losing central status in families

Well, as for me -- I usually eat my supper on my foldin' table ( small just for one person ) at the same time I read news/ endtimes online. All my 4 grown up children don't live with me to spend the quality time with them. They have their own families.

My guy and I usually eat at the table with friends - but from time to time, we'd eat in the lounge room in front of TV if something interesting's on. We try not to make a habit out of sitting in the loungeroom and having our meals.

Yikes, that's interesting news to read about! I do not have dining table in my apartment because I don't have one, yet. I will get one, when a girlfriend of mine moves in the future. :)

Reminds me of my ex boyfriend's family who sit in the dine room with a TV, They never talk to each others all they do is sit and watch TV while eating. It was very strange.

My boys and I eat in the kitchen together we have a small country style wood with green legs and four chairs, We always have a good conversation while eating, We talk about their school, their games, talk about our plans for the coming up weekend, and etc. ;)

*Blah, blah, blah* Now, Mommy, may I please be excused from the table to do my homework and when I get done with that, I'll dry the dishes. :)

It's true about the dining room table. When I come home, our family usually eats around the TV when we're home, but at least we DO talk to each other a lot. ;)

We don´t have TV at kitchen/dining and dinning room... Why should we?

We rather to have a good converstion with our children ... like what Cheri mentioned in her post.

We barely eat together anyways.. only on holidays. we do have table in dining room and kitchen.. I mostlly eat in kitchen..

When I find a good woman worthy of being my own wife and start a family then I am having family meetings held at the dinner table with prayers being said first before we eat to catch up on the day's events and be a stronger family, just like when I was a child and we would do the same thing. Goes to show there is a positive benefit to being stronger as a family unit. :)

1/2 getting falling apart!

:(

Mostly they are watching t..v and eating the meal..
I felt alike .. UGH.. what happend years back so good.. now.. anymore.. :( I live w/it..

Who cares... I'm still fine.. :D

My family and I usually eat dinner in the nook. No tv in the nook because we don't want any tv in the kitchen or nook. The tv is in the family room. We eat dinner in the diningroom once a while and no tv too. We never watch tv while eating dinner. We always talk about anything like school, neighborhood news, sports, etc while we eat dinner.

Wow, I've heard some families prefer to eat in the living/family room with those tray tables, maybe that's the reason why not many will buy those dinning tables...

I suppose tray table is much cheaper than a dinning table.. that could be a reason too.. save on a table, buy more DVDs..

Heath, I don't think all those activities at mealtimes are conducive to good digestion.

Tousi, I think you misunderstood what I said...

Wanna save money and still play video games plus eat dinner at the table as a normal family?

The family should go out for a walk after dinner or even jog or run as a family together and when get home then the family all sits in a circle then starts doing pushups and situps , pullups etc. in a circle like manner you know what I mean? living room couch moved aside to make more room for physical excersice or even in the backyard on a nice warm evening:)
