I heard about it years ago as an arrangement that worked well for at least one divorced couple.  Their argument was it disrupted the children's life the least as they stayed in one home and didn't have to go back and forth.  I guess if a parent would or was able to put their children's interests first, it could work.  It wouldn't have for me.  My ex and I could hardly be in the same room without her causing some scene.  I wished we could've been.
