Hey all,
So I'm here at GU for ASL summer classes and we're doing classifiers and location of objects. We have to describe rooms- orientation of objects, etc. I am having a terribly difficult time. The classifiers I know when to use which, but setting up the rooms and "reversing" them (someone signs, we draw, then reverse) is getting frustrating. We are doing it over and over and it's getting more and more frustrating. I reverse images very often. I don't like people to know I have this problem. Anyone else struggle with similar? Do I tell the teacher? Don't even know the sign for dyslexia. Fingerspelling is obviously a nightmare for me too- I'm quick but often leave out a letter or reverse and reading off of someone's hand is very hard.
Thanks in advance.

Although I am fluent in ASL and use it daily..I still feel awkward when it comes to classifiers. I am getting better in that area cuz I need to be for my teaching job. When someone is signing using nothing but classifiers, I understand it way much more than signed English. However, when it comes to me using it..I have to work at making myself clear. I understand how u feel. I took ASL 4 over the summer at Gally and I was bombared with classifiers. LOL!

Who is your teacher? :)

Dont know him...my teacher was Robin Massey. Glad u are enjoying the classes. Enjoying the heat here in DC? hehehehehe..what a storm today huh? Caused the power to go out at my home in MD.

Yep, Robin is still teaching 4. Crazy weather!!! Although I'm from Buffalo where it snows one day and sunshine the next, I was still surprised. And it's HOT! I'm used to freezing cold. lol Did a lot of practice tonight though and spent a lot of time conversing with some classmates. The RA's get pretty bored at night and are happy to talk too!
